You are doing well Sharron, we can see from your posts that youa re becoming more settled and positive, so keep at the dishcloths. Do you have an outlet for them? :-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 7 Jun 2015 10:34

I am still churning out the dishcloths.

The biggest problem with my losing the plot is that I am fed up with it now. I have had enough of being a gibbering wreck but I am so grateful to OH for letting me get through it.

There is a good sixty years of stress and mistreatment to come out and I am quite interested in how it has all been going.

Having been under pretty unbearable stress all my life I am finding it very odd not to have it there any more, it was my norm.

There have been some quite odd dreams recently which I can see are ways for my mind to present different aspects to me and they are making me feel more positive.

Everything has had to be done in tiny stages, including eating all my food in little pieces for a while, and that took bloody ages to finish a meal! My chips had to be eaten in three pieces each.

My take was that all this odd behaviour was there for a reason and I went with it. The procrastination is not in any way as severe now. At one time I said I felt as if there was a bone idle mad woman living in my head so I told my mother to leave and I think she did.

Have started to take an interest in my mediaeval stuff again and hope I might finally get it written up.

Meanwhile, the dishcloths keep right on coming, well, I chose to knit them rather than turn to mothers little helpers which I don't really understand and would rather not make the aquaintance of if I can help it.

Onward and upward.

Yes it is nice to revamp interest in this thread. As I said, if ever I want another opinion on my genealogy I only ask someone I trust rather than someone who says "He is possibly not your ancestor" when I know that he or she is. Then again, I think as they have not done the research they dont get the full story, same with me and their family stories. It can be hard unless you have done the research. Also I know people often argue for the sake of it even when I know I am right so that is why I always seem to just do the genealogy myself.

It was very handy for me when my son was young, having the hospital in the city centre as he was bit accident prone but despite my moans about having to travel so far now to the new NNUH, it is an amazing place and there would never have been room for so much state of the art equipment etc on the old site.

Stay well Benjamin and pop in more often

I liked the hospital site when the 2 towerblocks were there, for me the new housing built on it looks like rabbit hutches and is cramped. They did at least save the front parts but to some the towerblocks also had some value. I saw them being demolished. The city centre hospital was in a perfect location.

I remember that meet Liz, about 7 or 8 years ago. Nice to pop in here every so often and keep up with the members on here.

My earliest memory of the James Paget is 1985, and I can vividly still smell the disinfectant, magic cream, white bedding and food like yesterday. 1984-1988 was when I had several ENT operations. The childrens ward in the 1980s with Neighbours playing on the TV in the ward lol.

Hi Benjamin

I remember you, and we met at the meet in the Hotel Nelson years back. I amglad your leg is fixed and you are keeping busy. I lived close to the old N and N and my son was born in the Maternity block and later abseiled down the tower for charity when he was about 14. It ws sad to see the hospital close and some parts demolished but it did provide lots of housing with most of the really old parts, nurses homes etc turned into apartments. Also they kept the front grounds where the pond is and I think the old statues too When I was a child I lived that same side of the city so would walk past the hospital many a time on my way in and out of the city centre. Many memories.... also I remember the Jenny Lind children's hospital out on the Ring Road.

Would be interesting for me to read your memories Benjamin if related to Norwich or maybe you use James Paget?

Hope you stay well, and enjoy your research

Lizx

Hello Benjamin how lovely to see you and to see that you are well. That would be a good idea to contact the hospital about your experiences when a child.

Good to see you are still researching and not worrying about other people.

Take care :-) :-)
