Mary Hope your daughter had a lovely day, and it was nice that her father remembered. Many absent fathers don't.

Have just read Dizzi's poem, had me in tears. It was wonderful to read.

Mary hope you had a wonderful day and Colleen to of course. How great to share a birthday, and what a wonderful gift for you.

We have been having storms here so do not know how long I will be on again today. Beautiful rain, so am not complaining.

Carole, have had a very mixed time today reading these posts, firstly reading your post I had the giggles so bad, and also reading Sharron's then to Dizzi's poem a jag of tears. Funny but both have made me feel better.

I am getting very good at C&P ing.

Will try and get back after OH is at work.

Love and hugs

Gail

Well folks, it's not so bad being 21 again.

I've just had quite a shock. My daughter Colleen turned 40 today and was 12 when her father left us. He now lives the other side of Canada (BC) and it's a very rare day if he's in contact. Usually Colleen makes the first move.
I was checking the email a few minutes agao and lo and behold he had sent an e-card for her birthday. i sw his name and immediately began to shed some tears. I had so hoped he would remember, and was afraid to remind him in case he backed away again. Now he's done it by himself.
The funny aspect is that it came through my email address, so I thought initially it was for me LOL.
Should have known better LOL. That would definitely have been a first. So sad the children don't know their grandfather. - the one who has gifted them with his genes and the most fascinating family tree.
Off to have our b'day dinner now - roast beef, gravy, horseradish, baked potatoes with sour cream, fresh green beans and cauliflower with a cheese sauce. (And oh yes a bottle of Ontario Sauvignon Blanc wine, which I'll be compelled to drink all by myself!!)
The best part will be the sweet, an ice cream cake with a fudge and cookie crumb filling!
Oh my cholesterol.
have a good evening all, and thanks for all the good wishes, much appreciated.
Mary

He knows it better now.

You would think that somebody who can go no further than the length of their bed without some assistance would be a bit careful how they deal with the person who generally has to give that assistance.

It was an electric tin opener he had from us.Most tins now have a ring pull. The one I used to demonstrate was what I thought was a tin of tuna which the cat could have.

As I washed up the tin for recycling I noticed that it was not tuna at all.The cat had had red salmon.Still it's an ill wind.

Sharron your tongue says what your head thinks. Your dad knows that by now! Better than giving a load of bull in my book. xx

AnninGlos Report 20 Nov 2008 21:14

You were probably entitled Sharron. He had obviously been fussed over and expected the same from you, having a short memory. still, he apologised so must have realised he was wrong. It is another day tomorrow.

Sharron Report 20 Nov 2008 20:38

Well,we have had one up and downer this evening. The old man had been out for lunch where he was made a fuss of.He came home where we gave him his presents because his mate won't be here on Sunday.

Looked interested in the ones his mate gave him.Mine were neither here nor there. Then he brushed me away.Wrong move! I did explain the error of his ways to him in no uncertain terms.

I went out for about an hour. When I came home the carers had been and put him in bed.He apologised to me.So he bloody well should!

Sorry but if he wants to have gentle loving sick persons care he is in the wrong house. It would have killed him by now.If he wants to live as normally as possible he takes the rough edge of my tongue like anybody else.

I did call him pond life.Bet nobody admires me now!

Carole. thought I was seeing double there.

Eileen, you know you can PM me any time. I will however be away Saturday and Sunday, I don't want you to think I am ignoring you. I am sure once you write it all down to someone it will be easier than you think. Hope all goes well in Amsterdam. We used to have stairs without a bannister. it is fine if you stay by the wall. The children will have no fear because they don't know any different.

ACROSS THE SEA OFMADNESS I JOURNEYD ONCE BEFORE
BUT STOPPED JUST AS I NEARED THE SHORE
I FOUGHT THE MADNESS DRAGON
I SLAYED HIM IN MY MIND
TO THOSE THAT NEVER MEET HIM
THY ARE LUCKY SOULS ON EARTH

BUT BEWARE TO THOSE THAT MOCK THOSE WHO TROD THE WREACHED PATH

THE MADNESS DRAGON IS IN ALL OF US
JUST WAITING FOR TIME TO PASS

WATCHING THOSE WHO MOCKED US
WAITING FOR YOUR TURN

DO NOT BE SO CONFIDENT

Ann, yes there are enough people who will listen to my terrible dilemma, am not scared of this. The big problem is inside of me. I am not used to unburdening myself, as those very close to me know.Wish I was different!!!!. I will p.m you soon though. Not tomorrow, as I have to be in Amserdam fairly early. The wierd stairs at daugher S's home give me the willy's.No hand rails at all. I tried to talk about this, but she doe'n't find this a problem!!! everyone else can climb them, no problem. Yeah!
Music has ben a great solace for years on end.
Sharron, have p.m'd you.

xx all of your.

Eileen, there are people on here I am sure you can trust. I know you can trust me, but you have to know it yourself. Nothing can be that bad that somebody on here can't help I am positive. Please do talk to somebody. Sometime sad music is therapeutic because it brings the tears and the tears are cleansing, but talking it out helps too.

Dizzi, can you repeat the poem on here, I read it on your thread but others on here may not have.
