I can walk Gail without sticks.

I used crutches for 2 months, then sticks for a long time, then one stick.

In June of 1995 I threw away my stick and my last cigarette, never smoked since

What had made this period of recovery so difficult in an emotional sense is the fact that I had watched my mother die in the ICU a few months before the RTA. Physical pain and emotional pain cause deep depression.

I returned to work at the end of August 1995. My walking is slow, often aches, but I can walk

Incidently, the day I quit smoking was June 13, my parents wedding anniversary

David, physios are cruel sums of birches. Can you walk okay now though.

I remember my physio putting me through all sorts of cruelty. She ended up putting a stop to it as said something is seriously wrong here. She was right and after 18 months of trauma they discovered my neck was broken in 3 places. No wonder I could not hold my head up or walk properly.

We are lucky in one respect, we did survive and many do not.

The psysiotherapists had me on crutches in less than 2 weeks. I was extreemly reluctant because each step I walked was putting my whole body weight through the sites of my pelvic fractures and soft tissue damage

I cried, I shit myself. Yes it was kind of painful

David it is extremely addictive. I take tramal, which is very addictive as well, but only take it when desperate.

Suppose they will only give you so much in case there is the chance of addictiction

David

David Report 24 Nov 2008 08:55

I had morphine at the road side and in hospotal for pelvic injuries in a road traffic accident.1994

Don't know how it works but it did

Could have used it while I was being taught by the physios to walk again

Deanna thinking of you and looking forward to your return.

I am looking forward to the wedding at the weekend. Unfortunately, some family members cannot leave things alone and have put me in a very depressive move.

Trying to keep my mind of THIS person, but very difficult as they have a nasty tongue. Especially when drunk, I do not handle drunks well.

Mowed about 1/3 of the lawn today, which I enjoyed doing and did not come of the mower once.

Thinking of you all. Thanks Dutch for keeping us updated on Deanna.

Love and hugs

No time to add much or answer mails as just taken me two hours to log on, kept getting message from aol to check wires etc but I have had this happen before and suddenly will let me on, nothing to do with wiring, stupid aol, that's all. Trouble is it never does it to o.h. so he says I do something wrong but I don't. Finally got in so have to catch up with trying to order something on line as didn't get out Sat pm - too cold and snowy to think of driving so stayed in the warm instead !
Will catch up a bit next week when he is on late shift, I hope, take care all, stay warm and safe.

Kathy, thought about you with your fish and chips lol hope you got treated..... will phone next week.

Evening everyone,

Caz, it is saddening to read that you are in so much pain.A friend had sciatica, it was terrible, so can sympathise with how you must be feeling. That on top of all the other awful things you have to go through.Words are not enough.
Liz, I can understand what you mean by being snowed under with p.m.s and mails.Good luck with your councellor.Mine was really wonderful, shame he stopped doing this work with the council. He continues privately. Can't afford to pay him, more's the pity.
Carole, I am sad to hear about your friend Anita.I can really understand how you feel. I lost my best friend Jeanne oct. 2006, was with her a day beforehand.Horrible! You are certainly not waffeling.

Yesterday's visit to Amstersdam was a complete fiasco. Missed the train I intened on catching because there was absolutely nowhere to park.Had a long wait for the next train, which should have come half an hour later, but didn't, so was far too late for my daughter's appointment with the doctor,The one who has to decide if she is able to work full-time.Don't know how you call such a person in English. It was a fruitless journey thus.Poor lamb, she was very upset, as I was. Left two hours later, but everything went wrong with the journey, as is normal, it seems, lately.
In my haste, I forgot to take the book I bought for another Daughter's birthday...she was sooo disappointed, so am thinking of making that journey again on wednesday, her free day.

My children are coming here in the weekend of the 6th december. My ex.is also invited, to play Sinterklaas -St. Nicolaas (the Dutch equivelent of Santa).Hmmmm! I don't mind really, as he IS very good at this, afteral, he played this role yonks ago, in the village where he was born, his father did this before him. Both were dressed up in the good saint's robes, and rode on a white horse.Only once did the horse get the mads, and scarpered into the distance,'St.Nicolaas' hanging on for dear life.It still makes me smile.

Have a good weekend, without pain and mental stress.

Hi all

Any one fancy a snowball fight ??? or help me make a snowman ???

Sitting here in my sallopettes and moon boots ( not a pretty sight ) having helped son clear the drive and rescue the car that looked more like an igloo .

Hope the weather is better where you all are .Snow came on yesterday just had to because I have to catch the bus on fridays!

The cat enjoyed chasing snowballs for about 5 seconds then decided the radiator indoors was a better option .He has been joined by next doors cat .

My problem is what to have for supper as I usually go to the chippie but there is no way I am driving in this .

Well better go see what is in the freezer or butter the son up to see if he will treat me to a chinese

love to you all

Hi Everyone, so glad to see you back posting again Caz, I hope your next scan goes ok and you don't get so panicky, I know when I had my bones scan how scared I was.

I have some great news as some of you may have seen my thread yesterday. I have finally been awarded my DLA, I am so chuffed that I have now got it.
I have been filling in my form for my blue badge, on the form it says that I have to get my GP to confirm the distance I am able to walk, but further on in the form it states that if I am on DLA then just send in a copy of the form telling me I have it, does that mean I don't have to get my GP to fill in the bit about distance I can walk? does anyone know the answer.
I'm not sure i have explained it very well.

Love to all and a gentle hug.

Love Gilllie XXX

Went to visit my friend Anita last night. She has terminal pancreatic cancer. She was in so much pain last week she took some of her morphine and went to bed. She "woke" in the night to "find" lots of people in her bedroom. A nurse coming at her with a huge syringe. Anita told the nurse she wasn't going to stick that in her. Then Anitas three sons and daughter were there. Peter told the nurse you're not putting that into my mum! Then Anita woke up and red, blue lights were flashing in her room. She was wet through. She has poured the rest of the morphine away! Seeing doctor next week, so is going to ask for patches so she can take them off if its get s too much. She is such a brave lady, when she told us what was wrong she never cried, and never has let anyone see her cry. It was 20th of December last year she found out what was wrong. She was told there was nothing they could do for her except chemo to prolong her life. She stopped that as it was making her feel so poorly. I feel so helpless to see her so thin and her staring eyes, it's sad.
Sorry I'm waffling

Have a good day all xx

Hello all, anyone see the Tonight programme with nlp and hynotherapy, think I am supposed to go under when my nlp chap is telling me I am on my magic carpet lol, shame I just can't let go, will have to come clean and tell him I am not really 'travelling' when he says so lol
Hi to all newcomers, glad to see so many people using this thread and gaining some comfort and info from it.
Snowed under with pms and emails so apologies if anyone can't get into my box. Not keeping up with things well, o.h. here too often but next week he is on lates so hopefully I get some breathing space to do my cards and such as well as sort out my financial paperwork to see a counsellor the week after, can't cope with the worry any longer.
Take care all, thinking about you especially Caz and all those with physical ailments to drag them down, and those with other problems, my thoughts are with you all too.
love and hugs
