Deanna, thanks, I am lucky that I can still type fast but you should know me by now, my mouth takes off lol ramble ramble ramble ......

Years ago I used to have several penfriends with snailmail and I used to scribble pages and pages of rubbish, never dared read it back before sending or it would have never gone lol

Got a hair apptmt at the training school (£6)but it is 1.15 pm on Weds so will have to get up early and be ready for the off before he is ready to get ready for work lol, he hates me being around while he is preparing his pack up and his head to ride to work. Will be good to get my hair tidied and then I can colour it again and feel a bit more presentable.

Quick.... did you say Liz? ha ha ha
That would take me ages these days.

I am just here to say hello and how are you all?
Joyce doing okay is good news, bless her she is missed on here with her fun... get well soon love.

I am trying to conserve some energy as I have rather over done it today.
If I told you how much I had done you would think.... and THAT has tired her?
Well YES.
See you all tomorrow and be well all of you.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 16 Mar 2009 03:34

Just a quick response, as I am really tired, have been missing out on sleep a lot lately but hope I can catch up this week and be less stressed while o.h. is on late shift, will also try to catch up with phone calls too. Need desperately to get a haircut, my usual cheapo apptmts at the training schools aren't happening at the mo, so will have to cough up more but think I can get it done, then I can do my roots, can't manage when my hair is this long, so have to get it cut and then colour it myself, have five months worth of grey showing!!!
Eileen, that card was similar to one I received, I thanked the person for it as I too had never had such a pretty one, and next thing I know this lovely lady had sent me a whole pack of them, so now I am enjoying sharing them with others too. It's a bit like ripples in a pond!

Glad things are getting done at the flat Caz and hope all goes well with the move when it happens, hope you will be able to find everything you have packed lol

Tried to ring Kathy the other day but she was out getting her fish and chip supper, so only got to speak to her son, hope her outing means she is feeling a bit better. My cold and cough is a little easier now so hope it will be gone soon.

I spent an hour outside in the garden tidying some plants and at last phoned a woman I know who has a plant sale a couple of times a year, in aid of the Renal Unit at our local hospital. I have promised her a lot of bilbergia plants, they are multiplying like rabbits, so she can split them and repot them to sell in June, she is coming to fetch them so she can go round all the pots and tubs and take any cuttings she wants and also dig out all the new little grasses and hebes that have rooted themselves, there are dozens and I would never get round to doing it so the best thing is for her to come and fetch them, it will make looking after my pots etc easier too.
K . did the first mowing of the lawn as well and he trimmed some branches from the hazelnut tree under my direction lol, so it looks more balanced now and doesn't hang over the grass garden so much, last year it shaded too many of the ornamental grasses I put in, so this year hope they will do better. The garden and being on top of a supermarket is all I will miss from here, oh and the sunrises in the mornings across the field!
I have helped design this garden from a boring patch into something quite interesting and full of different shrubs and flowers and it will look very bare if/when I take all my pots and tubs away lol

Anyway folks, better answer some emails,
love to all, and catch you later

YCaz, glad you are pleased with th cooker. it is good that you can take your time moving in. I always found that the worst part of moving having to pack up everything and move then unpack in a couple of days. what did you think of the skating. I thought ray was great, still find him a bit cocky but he is definitely talented.

Eileen, come on, you can do it, climb out of that hole. hope you managed to sort the washing mountain. where does it all come from? are they changing clothes twice a day? Do they expect you to help with it or do you offer? Good to see you on here anyway, keep it up.

Edit: Mary you crept in there. Glad you mad it to the sugar bush and hopefully without too much of a sugar rush!! Laughing at Gareth wanting to ride a Llama!!!! well he had to try, they may have let him!!! all those pancakes and popcorn too!!!! What diet?????

maxiMary Report 15 Mar 2009 20:40

I'm in the throes of a very busy weekend, worked Friday and Sat evening, today and tomorrow. yesterday we made it to the "sugar bush". Gareth was delighted when he saw the pancakes, had a huge brekkie and then went to the petting zoo, where his nibs had a meltdown because the powers-that-be wouldn't let him ride a llama. LOL Now that was priceless, Sarah was fascinated by the goats. Then we tried to bypass the maple kettle popcorn stand but weren't successful, yummee, then a long hayride, and we came home muddy and tired, but a fun time. I'm at work now so must get off here before my name is on the bad list.
hugs all round,

Hi everyone, I'm glad that others, (most of us?) look for people they have already got, I am always doing it. I think it's called senior moments, well it is with me anyway.
Been up to the flat today and my cooker looks lovely, carpet will go down tomorrow then we can start moving things in, I don't want to do it all in one go as I haven't packed much yet. We can take a carful up at a time and just get a van for the furniture and whats left.
Got a lovely surprise when we opened the door, three cards for our new home, you know who you are and will be getting a pm from me but thank you, it felt so good getting post there. My cousin had put the wrong address on , 24 Thornfield Road, Thornton, but it still got there, I'll have to have words with her later, but for now I'll call it her senior moment.

I had an email from Joyce P this morning, she is still in her black hole, bless her, but is taking Toby for short walks but finds it hard now.

I just want to say that I find it hard to find time to pm and email, so if I haven't written for a while I am not ignoring you, I worry about it in case you think I'm not bothered. I keep putting my fillings in on certain threads but then I'm off to do some more work sorting out.

Skating is on soon and I can't miss that so catch you later.
Love and hugs to all

Claddagh Report 15 Mar 2009 13:23

Afternoon everyone,

Carole, I have had a good laugh at the way you try to get me to get off my backside and post. Sorry for not doing so earlier. My fingers are definitely still on the edge of that hole, but the rest of th old body refuses to join them. Early days yet. Thak you for saying you are pleased to see me again. It is really great to know that you are all so supportive and kind.
Deanna, I bought my Claddagh Ring in Ireland 2006, for 10 cents in a charity shop.It hd obviously been cut.Had it repaired in Holland-twice.It is solid silver.Worn on the left ring finger, with the heart and crown pointing away from your own heart, it means that person is married or engaged.Worn on the left ring finger with heart & crown pointing away from your onw heart, means you will consider 'love', the other way round means more or less 'buzz off' .The hands hold a heart.denting friendship and togetherness, the crown stands for loyalty and heart for love, of course.Anyway, thanks for all your p.ms and kind words here.
Mary, thank you also for your kind words, am trying very hard to 'get there', hope you will too!
Claire, I hardly dare say that I may have (almost) nearly turned the corner.
Bettey. No, my daughter was not really scared by that dead body. She lives in Amsterdam, so sees an awful lot of wierd and wonderful things all the time. What amazed her though was his clothes, they were acattered along the pavment.Funny enough, I spoke to her about this fairly recently, she said she couldn't remember!!! Just goes to show that it didn't make all that much impression on her, not like the time her neighbour in the apparment above her, climbed to the top appartment (via the balconies) and jumped.Have mentioned this before on this thread? That was really horrific, she had to cradle him in her arms whilst waiting for the ambulance. Won't go into details, but my other daughter who lived across the road, came over to hose the patio down later....
What was the name of that infamous mother of those American gangsters, Ma Baker or something? Maybe the Garda though you were like her..lol. No, seriously, it must have been scary, to say the least.

Did I mention about my front door lock that wouldn't work one morning two weeks ago? I am still convinced that it was an abortive break-in. Next door had this happen to them a coulple of months ago, they too, had to get someone in to change all the locks.

Must go to daughter to help with the moutain of washing. Don't know how they manage to accumulate so much since I did this nearly two weeks ago.

Can't mention you all, the old grey matter is just that OLD, and is wearing out, and names are my weak point.

Love to all. Eileen xx

Carole Report 15 Mar 2009 12:35

Deanna I also confess to spending good money searching for information I already have!
Today I spent more and found " dads great uncle" killed in italy in WW2. Printed it off and searched for more, only to find more that proved what I had paid for was details about a stranger!

Dad tried to tell me about his relations who served in WW2 but could not make me understand. I thought this new information would be interesting for him.

I went to Nottingham with my daughter yesterday. We went to The Royal Centre to watch a ballet again. It was more modern,
and not as much to our liking as the classical. But hey we tried it. As soon as we were to leave to drive to Notts I needed to go! H rushed me to be away and in the car I got. Practised breathing when I thought I needed to go again. We stopped just outside Notts at Mc Donalds, loo again. Then we got a bus,(park and ride) only five mins to city but I did it!! We shopped a little and H had a makeup lesson in Debenhams. Took pie and chips home to save making anything. Lovely day.

My head has been feeling wierd. My ears buzz all the time and when I move my eyes or head the buzz is like tuning in a radio station and missing. Do any of you know what I mean? It can make me feel off ballance.. I felt a little funny with it in the theatre yesterday. It felt like I would pass out.

Gail how are you? Now it's getting cooler for you I hope the pains don't get too bad xxx

Caz whats the latest on the move? xx

Eileen have you fell into that hole again? Come on girl we are all pushing from under you!! xxxx

Joyce where are you? xx

Also anyone had any news from Joyce P?

Had an email from Colin so will answer you soon Colin!

Oh Deanna,I see that frustration daily.
The people next door are not ever going to be chairpersons of Mensa but are soooo important, especially the daughters in their Argos jewels.

The other day my dad was trying to tell me something and selecting the wrong words again. When we had finally sorted out what he wanted he managed to say, quite clearly I might add "It's a bu**er not being able to talk properly."

We both agreed that the people next door seemed to manage quite well.

A bit of wickedness goes a long way!

Deanna Report 15 Mar 2009 11:51

Ann.... that is quite a comfort knowing that you do that too.
It really frightened me. I did not sleep well last night worrying about it.
Having my stroke I could handle, having another and losing something like speech or movement would destroy me.
I know it happens to many, many people but that is no comfort.
We are all very selfish when we think of things like that aren't we?
Caz... I know how you feel love.
I can walk around the bungalow but I need a wheelchair when I am out.
The frustration is unbearable sometimes.
So I do know.
While Tony is away I am completely house bound. Karen would take me out, she has offered too but I am very heavy and I would not want her to hurt herself... she has a very weak back.
I could use the scooter in ASDA... but there is my *other* problem... ha ha ha
Well I am REALLY going to have a rest today so I am off now.
I will be popping in now and again to see if Tony has e-mailed us. He has found himself a Gym and also he starts his Arabic lessons this morning at ten... whatever time that is here(?).
Have a lovely day all of you.

Deanna, as far as I know I have not had a stroke but I manage to do what you did with your tree more than once. Several times I have hunted for somebody only to find when i go to add it that I already have it. I guess it is nothing to do with the stroke, it is just general brain overload.

Caz, I didn't think when I mentioned my walk, I should be a little less insensitive, sorry, i forget that you are unable to walk, it must be like rubbing salt in a wound. I hope when the strain of moving is over and you are settled in your new home you will be so pleased that you are out of that black hole like a jack in a box.

CAZ.... I'm coming on?
Let me tell you how well I am coming on! ;-0)
*******************************************************
I took advantage of the 14 days free trial on Ancestry and started putting in my tree to see how far I would get with Ancestry's help.
Then I thought, well now i have in all I know, I will start to search what I cannot find.
I searched for my G. Grandfather's early years so that i could find his siblings and 'stretch ' my tree a bit more.
Two days and I could not find his father... I knew who he was and whom he had married but could not find him.
I went onto Records on GR and asked for some help, which of course i got from two lovely people... Lesley and Mrs Grumpy.
They found so much for me and i was so excited.
I thanked them and then went to add the information to my tree.....
I am so ashamed to have to admit t
this but.... IT WAS ALREADY THERE!
I Genuinely thought that the stroke had not affected me badly, which it hasn't, but to forget THAT?
Ah well, perhaps I am doing too much .
Now I have to apologise to those lovely people who went out of their way to help me.
So folks I am going to take a rest and see if I can be a little less stupid tomorrow..
**********************************************************

Tony e-mailed me from Egypt this morning. I have sent a tester e-mail back. If he gets it I will be so pleased.
It will save him phone money and I will be able to keep in touch.
Looks like nearly bed time for this *brain damaged* eedjit.
See you all tomorrow.
No kidding though I really do think i do too much. Once I sit down to do something.... I'm off.
Slowly does it in future I think.
Good night all of you and go rest yourselves before you all get as daft as me. ha ha ha
Love to all,

Hello Susan, It's nice to see others read our thread and offer help, it's been a godsend to us all and we have been able to help each other. I think those books were mentioned a lot earlier on in the thread so they must be good.

I am just popping in to say hello, I think I gave the wrong impression earlier, that I was on a high and buzzing. Of course I am looking forward to the move but it will also be a nightmare, it's getting me down a bit, obviously you have to put a good face on don't you. What would you think if I told you I was really halfway down my black hole, I can't seem to get out of the top of it, and I know I should be so happy, well I am but hope you understand what I mean.
For instance, my new cooker came on Thursday night and was fixed in, I haven't the slightest interest in going up to see it. I will see it tomorrow when I go to vacuum the fire carpets in readiness for the carpet men to lay our new ones.

Mary, Gareth made me cry for you as well, you are such a caring wonderful woman and to have that said to you by him must have made you feel like you'd got to the top of everest or something.
I have to agree about the hand made cards, I love them and have kept them all, I have quite a nice collection now. I used to make my own but on the computor and put photos and personel messages on, then I found GR, everything else has stopped, apart from my tree.

Gail I hope your knees are a bit better, mine aren't yet, they won't hold me up now, so painful. When anyone mentions they have been for a walk, like Ann did, I think oh how I would love to walk to the end of our drive without anyone there to catch me when I go down. I used to love walking over the moors and through woods, alas, those days have long gone.

Carole is the cbt helping yet? please let us know, unless I have missed it because I still haven't had time to read the pages I missed.

Betty I hope you have got over your scare now, it happened to us once, a young lad was banging on our back door, when we opened it he fell in. He wasn't drunk as he didn't smell of drink but my sons friend was here at the time and he said he might be on drugs. Son and friend got rid of him, and later we heard that a family three houses from us were drug dealers, we wondered if he was looking for them. Scary though, glad I don't live there now.

I must say Deanna you are coming on great, I find that with my hands constantly having pins and needles I am always making mistakes by hitting the wrong key.
Must go as I have still to email my cousins and let them know I am moving, they have the new address but haven't a clue why lol.

Love and hugs to all.

Caz xx

Hello. I have been reading some of your posts regarding Depression and anxiety. I felt i had to tell you about the books written by Dr Claire Weekes.Claire Weekes covers everything from bad nerves, anxiety, depression, obsession, agoraphobia, and breakdown. She has been dead for many years but her books are still relevant. She talks about the setbacks people go through and she knew every trick in the book that "set backs" can throw at someone. However someone has been feeling whatever someone has been experiencing then Dr Weekes knew about it. I can't recommend these books strongly enough. You can still buy them or get them from the library. As far as i remember there is " Self help for your Nerves" and two books in one called" Essential help for your Nerves." I'm sure once you start reading them you will be amazed at how perceptive she was.
Kindest Regards

Just a quick pop on to say hi to everyone.

I love receiving hand made cards, it is so extra special and knowing it is the only one of its kind in the world. You also know that it has taken a lot of thought and time to put together just for you. But, I cannot make them so have to buy them. I get excited at any card or mail I receive.

OH looks like he has Angelina's lips, his top lip is very swollen and in pain. Will take some healing, at least no more abscesses for the time being.

My hip is still very sore as is my knee. Think I must have really jarred it in the fall. Getting better, but will have to be more careful.

Deanna, what a lovely thoughtful son you have. He is a treasure. I also envy him seeing Egypt.

Carole, give H a hug for me please.

Grandson is doing well, I am waiting on a new batch of photos. He is now 8 months and 9 days. No teeth yet, though they are trying to break through. All of mine were late getting teeth. Baby's mum was 10 1/2 months when she got her first tooth, she was a premmy so really would have been 8 1/2 months as were the other two. He weighs about 10 kilos now. He cannot get the crawling bit right, but also none of mine did well with that either, they just walked, one at 8 months one at 8 /12 months. The youngest at 12 months, and she used to scoot around on her bottom. Grandson is also trying to bottom scoot. Daughter was a bit concerned that he cannot craw, but felt better after telling her that he may not crawl, as my two oldest basically just got up and walked. My dad also walked at 8 months and never crawled, so maybe it is a family thing.

Got to get up and move around again, as hip is starting to really sting again.

Love and hugs

Carole Tony has always had a thing for Egypt and has always wanted to learn the language.
He has made a start on the language a few times and each time has become ill... but he has done well so far,
He has paid for lessons while he is there and will be able to try out what he knows already. He will be in a position to test his pronunciation too.
I remember as a child drawing pictures of the Pyramids and the Sphinx all the time.

I am writing more, not because my memory is better but because my typing is getting better and a little faster although I could not live without the 'ABC check'. You would be so amused to see the mistakes I make without it.... ha ha ha
Life when I came out of hospital was VERY SLOW and frustrating to say the least.
It is so good to be able to do things again.
I do still have problems but I am able to handle them now as my mind has accepted that I am not the *GENNIE ARSE*
I once was.... ha ha ha

I had our beautiful baby Lewis down for a couple of hours. What a joy he is. He gets so angry when he gets tired and will fight sleep as long as he can.
Sleeps very well all night, but during the day, well, he might just miss something!
He will be asleep in the car by the time he gets home though.

Well folks I will see you all again later but I have things to do just now.

I could spread it out better if I did not have to spend so much time in the loo.
See you later .

Just got home and had the urge to come look in on you all! Replied to a few messages, as I had thought of a few people this morning and sent messages, as we haven't seen them in a while.

Been to see a work mate who is off work after an op. We had a little look and bought some card making bits. Had lunch and went to see another work mate who is off with a blood clot in her leg.

Now shall I start some ironing? Please think of something else for me to do! No I must iron. Steve had a bath after work yesterday and put a work shirt on, commenting that he didn't have a tee shirt! I told him he had just had two weeks off work on holiday the same as me. And been back at work same as me. He had as much access to the iron as I did! Subject changed with an embaressed laugh :o)

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2009 11:48

Carole, one of my bugbears about card making is if anyone refers to 'home made' cards instead of 'hand made'. It implies (and may not be meant as such), that the card iis thrown together and shoddy. But I love getting hand made cards because I appreciate the time and effort and cost that goes into each one. I know that I try and make cards for the individual so they are personal, with choice of colour, subject etc. what stupid questions those were? I suppose there was a reason not known to lesser mortals such as we for asking them.

Mary, I hope that your cough improves soon so that you can uncross your legs. what a good job you missed those 5 minutes, although I am sure you would have coped. and well done carole, that was a good assessment of the situation!!
Mary, how lovely that Gareth felt able to express concern, that must be a milestone worth recording. Onwards and upwards!!
I hope you as well as the children enjoy their weeks holiday. Do you take lots of photos? At the moment, it is in the planning stage, but I am about to do a scrap book for our grandson's 21st. I have been searching out all my photos of him through the years so i can do a page a year. it is a big project but a nostalgic and enjoyable one.
I have never really wanted to go to Egypt and fortunately neither has Tony, I would probably enjoy seeing the pyramids but I imagine that, like everything else it is commercialised. I don't think anything would top the Canyons anyway for me, especially Brice and the grand canyon.

I have just been for a 40 minute walk, was supposed to go a bit further but it started to drizzle a bit and my ankle was playing up (don't ask! not a clue what is wrong with it but it aches when I walk on it). Now I intend making a couple of cards and doing a scrap book page of my OH.

Mary I don't know if it's because I'm off my tablets but the emotion I felt reading about Gareth asking you if you were alright was so strong it made me cry! May he continue to surprise us with such gems!!

Coping at work with the three at once? One was dead so they could do no more, one was selfish so let her scream. The other poor lady was in pain so I would have helped her!! Ops! Just kidding.

Mary how long does it take you to write so much? I love reading all your news. (And everyone elses). It's like a pen friend with others sharing and adding.

I used to be fasinated with Egypt and the tombs. Lost it after going to Tunisia, didn't like the culture there at all. Robbing, manipulating, crafty people. Have to choose my words carefully so not to offend anyone there!! I'd love to visit the tombs but only if there were no Arabs there.

Ann had a bit of a spend on card making bits yesterday after cbt. Did I love fiddling last night making cards. I thought I'd like to make one for Mothers Day, but last time I gave her one I had made she just said "Oh can't you afford cards now"? So I'll buy a card for her. Give her some flowers to go with it.

Liz are you ok I don't remember seeing much of you xx

Eileen, come on lets see you again xxx
