What strange weather we are having.Thunder & lightening, rain bucketing down, sultry when the sun shines...

My tomatoes plants have gone beserk, great big, bushy things with lots of tomatoes on them, and they didn't cost a cent. All grown from seeds of some special ones called Milanino's, that a local farmer cultivated.

Deanna, nice of you to ask, my children are fine thank you.

Colin, I posted twice this week. Must be a record for me....

Thistledown. My God, your family have an terrible lot of really bad problems, and at such young ages too.Life is really unfair, some folk seem to have the whole weight of the world on their shoulders.
I am a wee bit confused though. In one post you end with Betty, then with Lily.....

Will also say hugs to all those who need one.Bless you all.

Hello everyone, I have not been on for a while because I'm finding it difficult to use my arm, it hurts when I type. I just wanted to say hello and I am thinking of you all.
Not had time to read any of the latest messages so I hope you are all keeping ok, I have been having a bit of a bad time with pain recently so been resting mostly.
Been enjoying myself with Ancestry in short bursts, doing my wardens tree for her, I actually reported an error on 1911 census and got a message back yesterday saying they had looked into it and I was correct. It's no wonder people can't find what they are looking for with transcribing like that, it was down as Mority instead of Moritz.
Done enough for today so
Love and hugs to all.

Liz, I feel that an abscess would be very painful, I have had them, if that is what it is, leaving you for 3 weeks seems irresponsible to me.

How are you today Carole?
I hope you are feeling good.

I have just said goodbye to my SIL& BIL, and we are now waiting for Lisa and the baby to come. He is such a joy.

I am loving the SKYPE and the camera.... I set mine up last night so I hope it works for me.
It did not work last night though.
Tony did look a little tired last night. It is about 11 o'clock in Egypt by the time he calls so he probably is tired.
Still, a year ago he would not have been as well as he is now. Thank the lord he is doing so well.
Karen has not come to the phone yet.... she was in bed.

How are Dutch and Caz then?
Why are they not here?

Must get ready for our next visitors, so I'm off now.

See you all tomorrow, and... must say that I am much better since I started taking my pills again..... god bless PROZAC.

Love to all,
Deanna XXX

Get well soon, Carole.

I spent all afternoon at the hospital. I got my blood tests done first after some confusion from the receptionist about which area was doing them, four phials of blood taken, surely they can find something in that lot to explain why I feel so tired!
Then I went to the apptmt re the lump in my mouth, told them I nearly cancelled as it has almost gone so wouldn't have the xray as I have had lots over the years and it probably wasn't necessary with the lump going down. The clinic was running late, appt at 2.30pm and I got in about 3.45pm, then he said there was something there so I should have an xray or go to my dentist and ask them to look on some older tooth xrays. Opted to have it done then, and then went back in to see this awful xray pic of my teeth, they looked dreadful, all higgledy piggledy, and the consultant showed me that there was a little pocket of shadow near the base of one back molar so he says he thinks it's an infection but I don't need antibiotics, but to see my dentist. I have to make an apptmt for about three weeks time so there is time for his letter to get to them first! Sounds very odd to me, he said it doesn't look like anything awful but might have been a cyst or abcess and not quite gone, but it wasn't the kind of pain you get with an abcess so I will have to wait and see what the dentist says, not sure I want the tooth out so there is a gap there but will have to see what they say.

Did some errands round and about which was a nuisance as road works on one way to where I wanted to be and a water main has burst elsewhere so had to take a very circuitous route to get where I wanted to be. All in all I was out from 1.30pm to 8pm, so am shattered now.
I had to call on an exworkmate of o.h.'s with a message for him, poor man has been diagnosed with lung cancer from when he worked with asbestos, he is single and lives in the home he once shared with his parents, they are gone now. I don't know if he has brothers and sisters but I felt very sorry for him, he is trying to be independent but looks very frail. He is determined not to accept carers into his home at the mo but will probably have to have them in when he has the chemo as he will be even weaker, poor man. He said he can't believe that this time last year he was running around like a blue-a***d fly, to quote him! Now he needs two walking sticks to get around and can't bend down or do much at all.

Made me feel grateful for what I can still do.

Just to let you all know I have a virus and had to call in sick to work yesterday. I have ear/ head ache, sore throte, feel aching all over. Slept lots yesterday. Just phoned Mum to let her know I won't be going to see Dad and if she is offered a lift from anyone to take it. As usual I listened to how poorly / dizzy she has felt the last few days on her new BP meds. As I said I'm off back to bed, she did say do I know whats wrong with you. By this time I'd had enough so just said a virus.

Dad is being given something which seems to be working re stones. I guess they will pass in his water (which was very brown but now getting better) he is more settled and showing interest in news papers and even took a book off the trolly.

I have read up to date but am too tired to reply. Love to you all and your families xxx

Mary in Canada/US hope things go well with the dogs. I haven't heard of dogs for your boy's condition, although of course we see seeing-eye dogs. Have a nice break south of the border.
Still have not found the thread Dutch & Caz (or Caz and Dutch) yet but will keep looking.
Cheers to any I have forgotten.

Oh Carole, your poor dad.... I have suffered with Gall stones, and believe me, it is an excruciating pain.

Liz, what is wrong love, you have not
e-mailed me for a while... are you okay?
O.M.G... That is a dreadful story Liz, so so sad. Poor man. Imagine the pain of thinking no one is there for you! Bless him. X

I feel privileged to have this thread... thanks again Carole... to turn to when I feel like weeping over what to others may seem like 'nothing'.
I have had periods in my life when I felt very very alone... not for years and years, but it is a feeling we never forget isn't it?

Eileen, we have not spoken for such a long time have we?
How are you and your lovely family?x

I am off to bed with my book now. *RAGGAMUFFIN ANGEL* by Rita Bradshaw.... lovely working class story of the late 1800's and early 1900's...
SIL brought it for me last time she came.

My son phoned from Egypt this evening, he set up a SKYE account for me before he went.... he used a camera so we could see him. We were so excited, giggling like teenagers, his dad and me. He introduced us to a lad, Mohammad, working in the Cyber cafe, it was so lovely.
He bought me a camera 'thingy' too, but I don't want Mohammad to see me.... fat old biddy that I am. tee hee

Well folks, look after yourselves, Mary have a nice time away, and the rest of you see to your loved ones, and yourselves. I will speak again tomorrow no doubt.
Love to all,

Thank you for your hugs Lily.Kind of you to think of me.

Ann, the dermo.was positive about my hair loss, she doesn't think I will go bald, but will continue to lose hair probably until the meds are properly sorted....she wasn't sure what is causing the hair loss though.

Still haven't found my specs....hope the new ones will be ready before we go, am using some owl-like ones for the pc , which make your eyes sort of 'jump out into the room', and equally big ones for reading.

We are going to Meath, near Dublin for two weeks.Grandson Douglas is joining us for the first week, then flying back and hopefully met by ????? in Germany, (can't remember the name of the place) then go off for another week with friends.

Youngest daughter phoned this morning to say they are leaving for Chicago later this afternoon.Driving to Brussels, sleep over, then fly to C. tomorrow.Long journey with two little ones, who are not exactly 'quiet' children, gorgeous though they are.

I am always happiest when everyone is safely home again....

Fiona's son Zachaar and husband Oleg are due back from a 3-week stay in Moscow on sunday...it was too expensive for her to also go, and she was quiet pleased to have a little break for a while.Oleg's mother lives in
Moskow, so can pop along to the little 'datcha'(can't spell this) which is in the middle of nowhere, whenever she wants.I am not at all happy knowing that they catch and eat fish from the (polluted) lake, or eat all the fruit and veg. from the garden, seeing as it wasn't so long ago that Chernobyl 'happened.
Am probably seeing problems where there are none.

Ok, must shower and see if my daughter still wants to go to see and watch a Cuban band that is playing in the center this evening.I don't mind either way.

Take care.

Gail, what a lovely story, I didn't know you could raise a quiet rooster.

Alison it sounds great, isn't it strange how a new hair style can make all the difference to the way you feel.

Alison I had bright red, purple and white ones a couple of years ago, it was amazing and also made me feel good. The purple only stayed in a couple of months but the red grabbed in my hair and I still have a few strands left now. So want to have it done again soon.

It really gives you a lift to so something for ourselves. I bet your hair looks great as well.

Have to say I am feeling pretty good tonight. I had my hair coloured today so now as well as lots of dark brown and a few bits of rather lovely silver which is my normal colour, I now have very bright red stripes and streaks of colour and also blonde streaks. Love it and makes me feel great.

Mary I hope everything goes well with the future family members.

As you know I raise chickens. A few years ago I was asked for a quieter and friendlier than normal rooster. To have them especially this quite they have to be practically hand raised and socialised in the house. I managed to raise a beautiful rooster and at six month my friend came to pick him up. I had to ask what is was for.

It turned out it was for an autistic teenager, who had not spoken a word all his life, He started to crow when the neighbours got some chickens, so mum and dad were over the moon and decided on getting him a rooster. The rooster goes everywhere with them even holidays and shopping. This lovely young man now talks and communicates with most people.

The parents had tried all sorts of pets and no other worked and were ignored. So have promised while I am alive I will supply him a rooster.

Love and hugs

They won't be coming home with us yet, but we'll see how the children interact, While we're at it, hope to have a couple days on the beach. So much packing to do now, kids are all high as kites, we've all had to get passports new or renewed, with the new regs going into the US

Afternoon everyone,

Have been reading the latest posts, well, skimming through really, because I have to go out soon.Have an app.with a dermatologist about hair loss. What has HE got to do with it, I wonder?

Carole, I am pleased, like everyone else, that your dad is improving at last.It is terrible to have to just watch a loved one suffering and being helpless to do anything about it.

On a lighter note, I managed to lose my glasses on saturday. They are Varialux ones, quiet expensive.Being rather small with gold rim at top, no frame at bottom, they are difficult to see.Have searched the whole house, they have gone up in smoke. Was trying on some old specs.to take on holiday as spares, put the specs down....??????Had to go to the optician yesterday and have eyes tested for new glasses.Trouble is, they may not be ready on time for the holiday.
The part I am dreading is telling my daughter, she will say something like, "mama, you ARE going senile"....have forgotten some things lately, but a close friend and I both think it is due to abnormal stress. She has the same problem, maybe we BOTH are going senile!

Wishing everyone a peacful, happy day, in spite of health worries and pain.
