because Keith..how ever many dealers you may hang...

there will always be more dealers to replace them while there are users to buy!

the death penalty does not work as a deterrent in other countries..it has never worked here!

a good start would be Afghanistan - that's where a lot of the poppies are grown - we have troops there, US troops as well - a couple of crop sprayers should do the trick

your so right, how the hell are drugs getting into prisons, one of the first thing to tackle, then if crime committted to feed a drug habit, then no prison term, they stay untill they are clean and the habit gone

♥**♥Straykitten♥**♥ Report 2 Jan 2008 21:35

thats anothing thing i think it should be closed visits only!

take dealers for example how do they reabilitate them they see the effects of the drugs there selling
but dont care as long as their wallets r full

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 2 Jan 2008 21:32

it's the availability of drugs in prison that puzzles me - surely with effective systems in place no drugs should ever enter a prison - they have sniffer dogs in prison now as well - or is is that prison staff are taking them in? I thought all visitors were searched? If a sniffer dog is on duty at the search point how do the drugs get in? Just don't understand it. Also if prisoners have mobile phones in their possession they can keep contact with their buddies on the outside and through them do things they shouldn't - if you know what I mean. No offence meant to prison staff here by the way, just thinking out loud so to speak., Perhaps someone who works in a prison can enlighten us

reoffenders, ask why, because the cause had not been delt with, a large proportion inside is due to drugs of one kind or another, what help do they, none, give them i TV, play station, pool table etc, get them out as soon as poss, for what, only to see them again

AnnCardiff Report 2 Jan 2008 21:27

I'm with you on this one stray - but find Rose is always the voice of reason - however, reason doesn't seem to be working does it or we wouldn't have to be building more prisons

lol Ann and Arch...not like me to keep my opinions quiet is it?!

suffice to say I am closer to the 'do-gooders' than the 'hang em or flog em' brigade ...lol

Punishment without rehabilitation is not the answer long term though it satisfies the 'eye for an eye' response in us all...

'Life' sentences should mean life...(I don't believe in the death penalty)....

sentencing should be looked at in terms of how it is applied and to what crime....

oh now there you see...you've started me off...lol...

climbs back on to fence for a while.....

it would be better if it worked but it doesn't does it - and prison is no deterrent as it is because so many reoffend - prison has to be made tougher and that in itself would bring about reformation

Running Bear

Running Bear Report 2 Jan 2008 21:19

would it not be better to reform /rehabilitate them?
