the sad thing with drugs is that it is very often vulnerable youngsters who are drawn into it by peer pressure

**no one** forces anyone to be a drug user,,and without them there would be no drug dealers,,

,,neither go down in my book for any sympathy whatso ever....

Why should my taxes be used for people who self induce a habit with all the hype over recent years just how this takes control of your life and they still take no notice.and just keep on trying it and taking the stuff,,,,having little or no regard for themselves or any who it affects,,,,,,,,it aint my problem if someone chooses to become an addict,,,,,more fool them,,,,,,,

ann you have got a real good point there hun.we have drug busts in our area, and when they get to court the stupid judges give um stupid sentances.so all the work the police do[and theres loads]the justice system fails us again.

unless we have a zero tolerance system it will carry on,but like i say......we pay the government to do a job,if they fail........which they have.........we sack um.no more mr nice guy.xx

Susan hit the nail on the head re alcohol - that is a real frightener because on the one hand the governemnt and other bodies are saying how destructive it is and there-s the area of binge drinking affecting youngsters, but on theother hand it is freely advertised everywhere you look - on TV. sponsoring tv programmes, bill boards - I was greeted at Morrisons this morning with a huge billboard promoting whisky - so quick toi jump on cigarette smokers but who would you rather meet driving a car or on a lonely road one night? someone who had smoked a packets of fags or someone who had just drunk a bottle of booze? I rest my case!!

Just thought I'd add to this as I too have a son who has a drug problem !!! at the moment he's on a methadone program to get of it but still has to take the crap because if it's not in his system then he won't be classed as a user !!! I have to pay to keep him "straight" for the next 8 weeks or let him find the ways and means to fund his habit by breaking the law , the worst part of this for me as a widow is the councilors that do home visits make you feel that if you don't do it then your not trying to help ,,, but you can only help for so long as the money tree has to stop at some time ... as to banning all drugs I think It's a bit late for that, they are here and I think their here to stay, so I think we need to be more open about it with the younger generation so they can understand the misery and devastation it causes in family ..."HOPE MY SON SEES THE LIGHT ONE DAY" xxx

*takes hard hat off*

Sorry, after reading the replies I thought I was gonna get battered...lol

I personally think that more should be done to help users and stop them from going to dealers.

Don't get me wrong I don't support social drug use but would like to see the supply off the streets. When you consider that 8/9 year old are targeted I wan't to kill all dealers!

So legalise no but find another solution to this huge problem.

Sue Report 22 Dec 2007 00:16

Thank you :-)

I have never used drugs, other than nicotine *slaps own wrist*.

I watched a programme some years ago about people suffering from terrible tremor.

They dosed the patients with ecstacy and the tremors were controlled to the point where they had almost total relief until the drug wore off. That meant they could feed themselves and have some sense of independence.

I discussed this with one of my doctors and I was told that they would get any drug (cannabis or e) if they were personally suffering as bad as that.

To be truthful if C became that bad I would try and introduce a controlled drug into her system (she doesn't smoke) if it relieved that agony.
