Just seen your answer Stan Laurel... my claim to fame lol my grandparents acted on-stage of theatre managed by Stan Jefferson ( Stan's father)..in the early 1900s --- true!

Yes it was Christmas Carol!!

Ann I think you're a big fibber! LOL

AnnCardiff Report 8 Dec 2007 21:59

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 8 Dec 2007 21:59

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 8 Dec 2007 22:02

No Ann I wasn't around in the early 1900s lol..my typing error SORRY lol

but I became involved with family tree looking for my grandparents who gave my Dad and his sister up for fostering and left them to travel.......they've vanished!!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 8 Dec 2007 22:04

oh right, early 1900's - fancy having children and then abandoning them - that is so very cruel - why choose to have children in the first place? or even if they didn't choose - no contraception I suppose - you just don't do that. My Mum certainly didn't choose to have me, I know that for sure, but she would never have given me up to anyone - sometimes wished she'd given my sister up but that's another story!!

Suppose it was another world to what we know now Ann, think they were on hard times, especially being travelling actors. No excuses though!

Dad's foster mother was good to him( even
though she had her own family) ...and he to her in later life.
