Follow the star
We have travelled very far we have to follow, follow the star pathway guided from afar we have to follow ,follow the star.
Mountains very very high we have to follow, follow the star, Desert very ,very dry we have to follow ,follow the star.
For the joy of seeing Jesus ,the Messiah of mankind its a privilege to worship, what a treasure what a find-what a find.
We bring presents for the King we have to follow, follow the star Hope he likes our offerings we have to follow, follow the star.
Gold and frankinscense and myrrh we have to follow, follow the star What an honour to confer we have to follow, follow the star
For the joy of seeing Jesus ,the Messiah of mankind its a privilege to worship, what a treasure what a find-what a find.

Hello Joy (where's Philip this year?),
Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child, bye, bye, lully lullay.
O sisters too, how may we do, for to preserve this day, this poor youngling for whom we sing, bye, bye lully lullay.
Herod the king in his raging, charged he hath this day, his men of night, in his own sight, all young children to slay.
Then woe is me, poor child, for thee! And every morn and day, for thy parting not say nor sing bye, bye, lully lullay.
Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child, bye, bye, lully lullay

Christmas Children
An acrostic for the primary grade. Each child wears a large gilt star around his neck. As he begins to speak, he turns it over, showing his letter on the reverse side.
All: Happy children here we stand. Bringing words of love; For on this glad Christmas day Christ came from above.
First child: C is for the Christ Who came To this lowly earth. Second child: H is for the harps that rang At our Saviour's birth. Third child: R is for the ringing bells, Telling Christmas-tide. Fourth child: I is for the crystal ice Where we go to slide. Fifth child: S is for the schoolboy's sled When he coasting goes. Sixth child: T is for poor Tommy Jones— Jack Frost bit his nose. Seventh child: M is for the merry part Of this Christmas day, Eighth child: A is for the apple pies Grandma put away. Ninth child: S is for old Santa Claus, Coming here to-night. Hope he'll wait till nearly morn, So it will be light.
All: Yes, we're happy children nine, And to each we're true, Three cheers for jolly Santa Claus, A happy day to you.

Christmas by John Betjeman
The bells of waiting Advent ring, The Tortoise stove is lit again And lamp-oil light across the night Has caught the streaks of winter rain In many a stained-glass window sheen From Crimson Lake to Hookers Green.
The holly in the windy hedge And round the Manor House the yew Will soon be stripped to deck the ledge, The altar, font and arch and pew, So that the villagers can say 'The church looks nice' on Christmas Day.
Provincial Public Houses blaze, Corporation tramcars clang, On lighted tenements I gaze, Where paper decorations hang, And bunting in the red Town Hall Says 'Merry Christmas to you all'.
And London shops on Christmas Eve Are strung with silver bells and flowers As hurrying clerks the City leave To pigeon-haunted classic towers, And marbled clouds go scudding by The many-steepled London sky.
And girls in slacks remember Dad, And oafish louts remember Mum, And sleepless children's hearts are glad. And Christmas-morning bells say 'Come!' Even to shining ones who dwell Safe in the Dorchester Hotel.
And is it true, This most tremendous tale of all, Seen in a stained-glass window's hue, A Baby in an ox's stall ? The Maker of the stars and sea Become a Child on earth for me ?
And is it true ? For if it is, No loving fingers tying strings Around those tissued fripperies, The sweet and silly Christmas things, Bath salts and inexpensive scent And hideous tie so kindly meant,
No love that in a family dwells, No carolling in frosty air, Nor all the steeple-shaking bells Can with this single Truth compare - That God was man in Palestine And lives today in Bread and Wine.

A diamond shines no brighter than that lovely Christmas star. It shines in all its brilliance; it's seen from near or far. A symbol of the Christ child as He lay upon the hay, It tells to all the waiting world a King was born that day.
O Bethlehem Star keep shining - give us faith and hope and love. Keep our thoughts forever turning to the Saviour up above. Give us strength and hope and courage to do our best by far And never falter in our faith as we watch that Christmas star.

High o'er the lonely hills Black turns to grey, Birdsong the valley fills, Mists fold away; Grey wakes to green again, Beauty is seen again– Gold and serene again Dawneth the day.
So, o'er the hills of life, Stormy, forlorn, Out of the cloud and strife Sunrise is born; Swift grows the light for us; Ended is night for us; Soundless and bright for us Breaketh God's morn.
Hear we no beat of drums, Fanfare nor cry, When Christ the herald comes Quietly nigh; Splendour he makes on earth; Colour awakes on earth; Suddenly breaks on earth Light from the sky.
Bid then farewell to sleep: Rise up and run! What though the hill be steep? Strength's in the sun. Now shall you find at last Night's left behind at last, And for mankind at last Day has begun!
Jan Struther 1901-1953
This is my favourite Advent carol, the words are so beautiful and the music so uplifting.

It's Christmas time There's no need to be afraid At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time
But say a prayer
Pray for the other ones At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun There's a world outside your window And it's a world of dread and fear Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears And the Christmas bells that ring there Are the clanging chimes of doom Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time The greatest gift they'll get this year is life (Oooh) Where nothing ever grows No rain nor rivers flow Do they know it's Christmas time at all
(Here's to you) raise a glass for everyone (Here's to them) underneath that burning sun Do they know it's Christmas time at all
Feed the world, feed the world, feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again

O Christmas Tree :
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy leaves are so unchanging; O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy leaves are so unchanging; Not only green when summer's here, But also when 'tis cold and drear. O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy leaves are so unchanging!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou can'st give me; O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou can'st give me; How often has the Christmas tree Afforded me the greatest glee! O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou can'st give me.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy candles shine so brightly! O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy candles shine so brightly! From base to summit, gay and bright, There's only splendor for the sight. O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy candles shine so brightly!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee! O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee! Thou bidst us true and faithful be, And trust in God unchangingly. O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee! !"

Little Drummer Boy
Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,
So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum, When we come.
Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,
Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum, On my drum?
Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,
Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum Me and my drum. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth:
Every body Pauses and stares at me These two teeth are gone as you can see I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe! But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you "Merry Christmas." It seems so long since I could say, "Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!" Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be, if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light, From now on our troubles Will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Make the Yule-tide gay, From now on our troubles Will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days, Happy golden days of yore, Faithful friends who are dear to us Gather near to us once more.
Through the years We all will be together If the Fates allow, Hang a shining star On the highest bough,
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.
(My favourite!)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose Yuletide carols being sung by a choir And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Ev'rybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe Help to make the season bright Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy To see if reindeer really know how to fly
And so I'm offering this simple phrase To kids from one to ninety-two Although it's been said many times, many ways, "Merry Christmas to you."

Angels from the realms of glory, Wing your flight o'er all the earth; Ye who sang creation's story, Now proclaim Messiah's birth: Come and worship, Come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Shepherds, in the fields abiding, Watching o'er your flocks by night, God with man is now residing, Yonder shines the infant Light; Come and worship, Come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Sages, leave your contemplations, Brighter visions beam afar; Seek the great desire of nations, Ye have seen His natal star; Come and worship, Come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King!
Saints before the altar bending, Watching long in hope and fear, Suddenly the Lord, descending, In His temple shall appear: Come and worship, Come and worship, Worship Christ, the newborn King!

Hark, the glad sound! the Savior comes, The Savior promised long; Let every heart prepare a throne, And every voice a song.
On Him the Spirit, largely poured, Exerts His sacred fire; Wisdom and might, and zeal and love, His holy breast inspire.
He comes the prisoners to release, In Satan’s bondage held; The gates of brass before Him burst, The iron fetters yield.
He comes, from thickest films of vice To clear the mental ray, And on the eyes oppressed with night To pour celestial day.
He comes the broken heart to bind, The bleeding soul to cure; And with the treasures of His grace To enrich the humble poor.
His silver trumpets publish loud The jub’lee of the Lord Our debts are all remitted now Our heritage restored.
Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace, Thy welcome shall proclaim; And Heav’n’s eternal arches ring With Thy belovèd Name.

Who is He in yonder stall At Whose feet the shepherds fall? Who is He in deep distress, Fasting in the wilderness?
Refrain
’Tis the Lord! O wondrous story! ’Tis the Lord! the King of glory! At His feet we humbly fall, Crown Him! crown Him, Lord of all!
Who is He the people bless For His words of gentleness? Who is He to Whom they bring All the sick and sorrowing?
Refrain
Who is He that stands and weeps At the grave where Lazarus sleeps? Who is He the gathering throng Greet with loud triumphant song?
Refrain
Lo! at midnight, who is He Prays in dark Gethsemane? Who is He on yonder tree Dies in grief and agony?
Refrain
Who is He that from the grave Comes to heal and help and save? Who is He that from His throne Rules through all the world alone?
Refrain

It was on a starry night when the hills were bright Earth lay sleeping, sleeping calm and still. Then in a cattle shed, in a manger bed a boy was born, king of all the world.
And all the angels sang for him, the bells of heaven rang for him, for a boy was born, king of all the world.
Soon the shepherds came that way where the baby lay and were kneeling, kneeling by his side. And their hearts believed again for the peace of men, for a boy was born, king of all the world.

It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold: "Peace on the earth, goodwill to men From heavens all gracious King!" The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they come, With peaceful wings unfurled; And still their heavenly music floats O'er all the weary world: Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing, And ever o'er its Babel sounds The blessed angels sing.
O ye beneath life's crushing load, Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow; Look now, for glad and golden hours Come swiftly on the wing; Oh rest beside the weary road And hear the angels sing.
For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophets seen of old, When with the ever-circling years Shall come the time foretold, When the new heaven and earth shall own The Prince of Peace, their King, And the whole world send back the song Which now the angels sing.
