We should have an art quiz for you Ann. I'm absolutely shockingly ignorant of art so you wouldn't need any cakes at all.

Helen so am I - I just googled that for daughter - she has some art homework and has to do her own version of some synthetic art - last week she did a copy of Picasso's 'the musicians' :)))

How old is your daughter?
I have a 15 year old (as well as 2 younger) and OH tells me off for helping her too much with her homework. He's a teacher so will agree he might know what he's talking about in this (but I'm right about everything else!)

sorry Helen, got distracted lol, she is 15 - just started her last year in high school, she has done her home work just wanted some comparison piccies to make sure she is on the right lines.....I do help her, but always try to make her do it herself - I will suggest things.....but it is hard sometimes isn't it lol

My daughters last year too. I don't feel old enough!
Yes you want to help them to do well, but I have learned to step back a bit. After all they won't have us there in the exams so it's not helping them in long run.
And my parents wouldn't have had a clue. My mam just said she wasn't at grammar school so she didn't do algebra. And what's an adjective? It's a shame because my mam is very intellegent she failed her 11plus on purpose so she wouldn't be split form her friends.
sorry monologue!

Don't apologise Helen, its interesting, and I'm sure like me you were a child bride lol
I too failed my 11 plus on purpose, but for different reasons - I am one of eight children and my parents couldn't afford to send me to grammar school, and like your mum, I wanted to go to the same school as my friends :)

As you say we can't be there in the exam with them, so they need to do things for themselves, but I think a little nudge in the right direction now and again is helpful.
