The comparason is there are children who are not with there parents, however they went missing.

I cannot see how some of you cannot see that. Unless of course you think the McCanns went out that night with a note on the door, saying please take our eldest daughter.

Get over the fact that the McCanns wern't in, Madeleine should have been safe, we're not discussing babysitting services, we're discussing a child going missing, or is that unimportant to some of you?

There is no comparison between these scenarios.

The fact is the McCann's made a conscious decision to leave their children alone and unattended for several hours whilst they went out and partied with friends.

The other parents didn't.

well said peter my thoughts exactly i do not know how anyone can say this case compares to people who have lost children while out playing or otherwise it is not the same, the mccanns had a choice of a babysitting service but chose not to use it why?

Those are good points Donna, your opinion is valued. I think the missing girl may have been Rosemary Edwards? If so, no she's still missing.

donna Report 16 Sep 2007 20:37

how can people say that the other families know what happened to there children and the mccanns dont ... if there children are still missing how can they know...

how i see it is this the mccanns didnt want to use the FREE babysitting service but yet put there children in the creshe . wen we were in tenerife the same girl who worked in the creshe was the same girl who babysat for us one night wile we went out for a couple ov hours these hotels dont just employ anyone they have strict guidelines for those who work for them looking after
children ..
so why did they leave them in the creshe but didnt feel safe to use the babysitting service.... wen it would have been the same person or persons who worked for the hotel

It's really sad Sue - the cases of ALL missing children are sad - whether there is closure or not, and ALL the parents of the children concerned deserve compassion surely? - which was where this latest debate kicked off if I remember rightly.

Sad isnt it Sue? The families must be so devastated. I hadnt even seen Jerome's case in the paper, so many cases dont even reach the paper or radio/tv news, its shocking. Especially if they've been missing for years and the police can find no trace.

Sue

Sue Report 16 Sep 2007 19:47

Hi Jacqui,

It was to just make the point that many parents do not know what has happened to their children.

I cannot comment on Jerome due to what the police said to me in confidence but the outlook was poor from the start of the investigation.

I've looked at the report and whilst I really do feel for the parents of the lad, he was aged 15 (according to the report) and Lord knows, we all know that children of that age have "left home" - just look at the reports of homeless youngsters on the streets of London for example.

I'm not making light of the fact that the lad is missing - it must be excruciating for his family, and I only hope those that have made false reports on his whereabouts rot in hell. But I cannot see how this particular case can be linked to that of a 4 year old child missing in a foreign land apart from the fact that both sets of parents must be in anguish, and neither have closure.

Any case where a child is missing is comparable....a child is missing, the parents didn't give permission for the child to be taken, thats comparable isn't it?

The only difference is the other parents know the outcome of what did happen to there child/ren the McCanns don't as yet.

Please look at these reports

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/1144452.stm

I was working at the hotel on the day he went missing, he and his brothers used to come down regularly.

Despite various reports of sightings and false leads through text messages he remains missing.

Who's put out a rumour that missing children have been found?

I would find that not only bizarre, but most cruel.

Perhaps you'd like to enlighten me, cos I think I must have missed something.

Finally got back on General. Too true Jet, I didnt know you had a child missing in your family, my thoughts are with you all. I cant say I know how you feel because I don't, but it must be so hard for you all. I find it bizarre that people put around false rumour about kids being found, when they've (more often than not) never even heard of the kids concerned.
