I can't tell you why the McCanns made the decision they did. Perhaps you could write and ask them?

I belive the Media Circus is turning this situation into a fascio,,,,its been a long drawn out case with yet,,,no resolve,and because of the none disclousure laws from another country and this family have been bound by those laws in that they are not allowed to go public with what took place with the P/P prior to them bringing their children back to their home,everyone is having to use speculation fed by the media to sensationalise every little detail,

It doesnt matter whos child has gone or ever went missing,,,,,,,,,,,those parents must for ever think -------------IF ONLY----but as with time,,,it cant be turned back,,,and each parent in any case like this lives it daily--- not us,,,,,,,,,

Well done Richard Branson, good job he isn't doesn't worrying about what the McCanns did on the night Madeleine went missing, he obviously is more intersted in helping the family. Good on him.

As for the McCanns being hereos, not heard that one.

Who said other children don't deserve publicity, if they are missing? I don't know of another case where a young child has gone missing, and not been given publicity.

It's as much about the level of publicity that has been given. Setting up web sites, having bands done, posters, tshirts and everything else. That level of publicity has never gone on for any other case I know of.

When young Sara Payne went missing and Holly Welles and Jessica Chapman to name but a few, there was high publicity for those but still not to the level that has been for Kate and Gerry. Who of us truly believed that Holly and Jessica would turn up alive because they were together and how devastated the public were let alone the upmost grief for their parents when the news broke that they had been killed by that insane man?

I think I might have posted this before but not all baby sitters in hotels are screened.

Both my eldest daughters and and I babysit in a local hotel. We gave in our names & mobile numbers one day after being told there was a small amount of 'cash-in-hand' work there. A few days later we got a phone call asking if we were available to baby sit. NEVER have we filled out Police/Garda clearance papers. Infact, I filled them out last year when I volunteered at youth club but they were never sent.

Kerry is currently filling out her clearance forms for nursing, as am I for college.

My point is that I could have been anyone presenting at the hotel that day, our address wasnt even taken.

It may have been the same situation in Portugal, I dont know. I dont think I would have left my kids alone but then I dont know, I wasnt there possibly being reassured by other parents that it was the safest optio. NONE of us know the true circumstances, we werent there. We are going on what the media tells us.

I for one only care that Madeline is returned to her parents. The sooner the better.

Because this happened in another country,,,,,,,had it happened here then I dont think this case would be at the level it is now,,,,,,,,,,as there would have been hopfully more true facts and the case wouldnt be surrounded by gagging laws,,,,,,,,,,,,,also I belive our police would have tied it together by now,,,,,,,,,,

If the McCanns were guilty then I think they would want to lie low, I do not think they had anything to do with this,like I said before they are guilty of one thing and that is leaving their children alone.....

Holly & Jessica went missing on 4th August 2002, their bodies were found just 13 days later on the 17th Aug.2002.

The same day Ian Huntley & Maxine Carr were arrested and on the 20th Aug they were charged.

On 17th Dec Ian Huntley was declared guilty in a court of law for their murders

At the time of the girls disappearance there was huge media coverage.
Once the trial was over, there was less media attention on the families and case, as nothing more could be possibly done for the children or their families publicity wise.

What I'm trying to say is, the time frames of these three cases are different.

In the first they were found after 13 days
Sara Payne was 16 days.

In Madeline's case, its been months and shes still not been found. Its still in the news because of this, and no doubt, had it been the same scenario in the first case, the attention given to the family would have been far greater

Especially if, as in Madeline's case, the family were pulling out all stops to keep their child's profile high ,in the hope that somewhere, someday someone will find their child rather then let the world forget she existed.

One last word

Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
(whether we get on or not)
So lets not fall out over it please.

Many of us have our own private thoughts on the matter, be it we feel they did wrong on one account or more, whether we think they did right on one account or more, or whether its a mixture of both.

Opinions are fine, whatever the case, as long as they do not cause hurt, but shooting the family down in flames over and over again before any trial in a court of law, Could be seen by a family member looking in, as false, libellous, defamatory, unreliable or misleading..Which in turn could result in a court case for prosecution. Or at very least may lead to a suspension.

The only thing the McCanns may be found guilty of at present, had it been done in the UK, would have been leaving their kids alone..

Most of us wouldnt have done that, we all know but do we need the constant spite directed at them over and over again because of this ?

I'm sure they realise by now that they did wrong and are now sorry for their error which has changed their lives.

I agree with you. Yes, the children were left alone, we all know that, but I have NEVER seen a point laboured so much. I just hope the case is resolved asap, for all concerned.

That child went missing Lynda because her parents, went off to have dinner & get half cut in a Tappas bar. It was not the first time they had left their kids alone.
What is surprising to me and I know, to alot of the Portuguese people as well, is that in Portugal/Spain, it is normal practise for the children to dine out with their parents, whether it is 9, 10pm at night. That is tradition. Why did they not take their kids? Why did they not make use of the baby sitting service available. They have said they did not want their kids "monitered".......what didn't they want monitered?
The Mccanns left their 3 kids, and it was not the first time they had done so.
You say Lynda, Madeleine should have been safe?. That is a nieve comment to make given this day and age. No child can be considered "safe" when left alone, whether here or abroad........
Those parents should NOT have left their kids....PERIOD

By the way Lynda, I am sad to say, I find you intimidating, but will have my say as entitled to.
