Good for you Claire...Board Police (I like it)

Dare I say that I truly believe that Maddy was murdered within days, if not sooner from when the alarm was first raised. I have said this right from the begining.

I agree Romany,,,we all handle trauma and grief in different ways,,,,but when its a child? I would be hysterical,,,
Im sick of people on here saying,,'we dont want to hear who's to blame' Well nobody on here is going to tell me what to say and think, Im sick of the board police,
They ARE TO BLAME,,THEY SHOULDNT HAVE LEFT THEM ALONE,..
And apart from the fact the Maddy dissapeared,,,what would have happened if one of the kids were sick,,,? Its only takes a couple of miniutes for a child to choke,,

I havent read all this thread, I'll just say that if Maddie is found (and very sadly it seems unlikely now) I hope she doesnt see the pictures of her mum and dad, taken a couple of days after she went missing, laughing and joking, strolling along. Yes, everyone does react in different ways, but who would act like that when their little girl could be in the clutch of paedophiles? My sister in law is here, she says she'd be knocking on the door of every apartment, angrily demanding to know if anyone knew where her baby was. I think I'd be crying and panicking.

There is an interesting article in yesterdays "Scotsman" where retired Detective Superintendent Albert Kirby helped solve the murder of two-year-old James Bulger in 1993 gives his opinion on four of the main theories surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine.

He makes the point that if it turns out the Maddies blood is found, then the Mc Canns are in serious trouble. He also dismisses theories they have been set up.

Apparently our Home Secretary has also stated she is happy with the way the Portugese Police have conducted their enquiries.

Martin, the baby sitters were the same people employed in resort's creche - where the McCanns were happy to leave the children every day.

The lawyer in Portugal has been reported as saying that no deal was offered to Kate, there was a misunderstanding in the translation.

This raises the question as to whether Philomena will retract her statement which implied that the PJ were clutching at straws (paraphrased). etc.,

They obviously know it was wrong to leave the children unattended but even if they had a babysitter then they might have no idea how reliable he/she was. Hopefully the babysitter would have been checked out but who knows with Portuguese law being the way that it seems to be. In a hotel the babysitter could be supervising a number of rooms, the children could have been left unattended even longer.

I, like some of the other posters, have smelled a rat from the beginning but I feel that we will never know the truth.

It's just a thought but....what about bringing in a psychic to see what they say??

First time I had talked to a friend about the case last night.........she felt the same.

Just seen the speech at airport....don't buy it.

At my daughters and popped on for 5 minutes and seen this thread.

I just want to say I still support the McCann family in their ordeal and there are still so many unanswered questions before I could ever believe that Jerry and Kate were responsible for the death of their beloved daughter despite what the media imply.

What concerns me is that a group of 8 parents chose to leave 8 children under the age of four completely unsupervised. Only one set of parents (both doctors) had a baby monitor. 4 of the remaining 6 parents were doctors.
In cases of child neglect/children at risk, doctors are usually involved in a professional capacity.
GPs especially are called upon to advise patients who are parents on child care issues, good parenting practice etc.

Please refer to what the NSPCC says on their 'Home Alone' leaflet.

Specifically the following text taken from this leaflet is relevant....

Never leave babies or young children home alone (whether sleeping or awake), not even for a few minutes.

Most children under about 13 are not mature enough to cope with an emergency
and should not be left alone for more than a very short time.

If a parent or carer fails to meet a child’s basic needs, such as food and warm clothing, or constantly leaves a child alone, this is known as neglect. Neglect is as serious as other forms of child abuse because the effects on children can be just as damaging and long-lasting.

The Fund was set up by Mr John McCann in Scotland as was all the ideas for raising the funds,

Kris what botherd me now is the length of time the kids were left until they were checked. I also have a strong opinion on what happened but like you yourself and many others have said I also feel unable to post it on here. If the parents have not had anything to do with what has happened to her then I am sure the police will do the right thing. From the start there was something odd about this case. The visit to the Pope, the fund raising!! well sorry to say if it was my child I would be in no state to do any of these things and I would be searching for her until I found her.

I have seen absolutely nothing which leads me to believe that they are guilty of anything other than leaving their children alone!!

I really don't know what to think. On the one hand from almost day one I didn't feel happy with the McCann's seemingly calm composure. I know people react differently in grief but for them both to be so calm when I know I wouldn't have been able to finish a sentance without howling seemed unnatural.

On the other hand, I just don't see how it would be possible for them to have hidden Maddie's body and then to have retrieved it and disposed of it again weeks later whilst under intense scrutiny from the world's media.

My fear is that if Maddie is not found (either dead or alive) and this seems a more and more likely possibility as time goes on, the case will never be solved. That will mean that if the McCanns are innocent, they will have to live not only with the loss of their daughter but also with a question mark over their involvement in her disappearance. And a child abductor will still be undetected and on the loose. Conversely, if the McCanns are guilty, they will go unpunished and who knows whether their twins would be at risk?

I just hope and pray that Maddie is found - but are the authorities still looking?
