James Report 10 Sep 2007 09:56

Heres one for shakeperes, the reason why amanda comes under the name of James, is that this is my husbands page, and he started the tree and got bored when he got to his grandparents, so I took over!!!!!

Yeah I never could have imagined the responsibility of a child before becoming pregnant, but once they are born you look on them and from that day on, you know that they need you for everything, that's the deal, and I'm quite shocked to believe that they had left them on previous nights, what where they thinking!!

One thing though I was watching the news this morning watching them carry the twins into the house and the girl looked so safe in her mums arms, like any other little girl, but I had this niggle in my head saying, but she leaves them alone unattended!!!

I'm going, cos I will be here all day.
I'm not saying anymore, don't want to offend anyone.

amanda otherwise known as james!!!! (lol)

Remember the Azaria Chamberlain case!

Perhaps it was not a formal plea bargain as understood by a lawyer but could have been an attempt by the police to make her think that there were offering one.

I am around for a little while longer, but I don't think I shall be able to answer any questions to anyone's satisfaction - I am not in possession of all the facts.
I have too many unanswered questions of my own.

Sh Pr/Robin

I too read the report of the statement issued by the Portuguese lawyer and can confirm that he stated categorically that a plea bargin had NOT been made to his client. It was a translator misunderstanding.

I will accept his word - he was present at the questioning session.
Neither the spokesperson nor Ms Philomena McCann WERE present. This is one aspect of the inquiry that Kate McCann evidently did feel able to discuss with others.

Sorry Muffy,

Our failure to engage in meaningful discussion is my fault entirely.

I am most interested in what you have to say ............. and equally interested in what you say about what I have to say ( did I say that right ? )

I may not be around for a while. But I would be most pleased if we could have frank discussion upon my return ................. subject to our hosts' agreement !

I know we don't disagree on most of this topic. You do as much research as I do.

I know what it says, remember my zapped thread. BUT how can a private company solicit funds from the public seeming to be of a charitable status. This assumption was made by people donating without reading the qualifying statements.

Interestingly, children who bought the wrist bands and have asked for a refund have received one.

I have signed the freeze the fund thread petition, some people who have donated are now incensed. You can read their comments yourself.

I just get so frustrated that people will not question the validity of leaks from both sides and the bias of the British press. I can't even bring myself to start discussing the attendance in Portugal of a Government advisor.

Right sorry have to go.

Before I do though. The objectives of the Madeleine fund ...for Sue.

Looks like the money could feasibly be used for lawyers. See 1.1.3........ Wrong though it seems. Dunno what you think though.........

1.1.1 To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;

1.1.2 To procure that Madeleine’s abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and

1.1.3 To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family.

1.2 If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.

The family of Madeleine McCann are to-day launching the Madeleine’s Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned appeal. The funds will be used to help find Madeleine McCann, support her family and bring her abductors to justice. Any surplus funds will be used to help families and missing children in United Kingdom, Portugal and elsewhere in similar circumstances.

Re criticism of the PJ.

Extract from the Telegraph

The McCanns had more bad news when they were told a request for the case to be reviewed by British police had been turned down.

Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, said she was satisfied with the way Portuguese police have conducted the investigation.

Did you read my previous post re plea bargaining Robin?

I am sorry you feel the need to take *issue* with me. Can't think what I have said to make you feel that way.

Apologies if I have offended you in anyway.

Sue

Sue Report 9 Sep 2007 23:48

They were NOT offered a plea bargain. This was stated by the McCanns' lawyer today. It was a misunderstanding in translation.

Sadly the UK press will not at the moment report this. I emailed SKy News and received the usual drivel back.

Philomena was used as a 'tool' in this to back up her other comment that Kate was going to be framed.

Leakage by both parties is counter productive when facts come out and the previously stated quotes are disproved.

I have an ex (British) police friend who worked with most of the European police forces as well as other foreign police. There are very few European ones that he would trust and Portugal is certainly not one of them.

Perhaps they have changed since her retired....

Robin aka Shakespeares Progeny, Muffy is right. Reading The Sun today was an example, they've decided the McCanns are 100% victims and follow that line, as opposed to taking a neutral line and reporting news AS IT IS.

Conan

Conan Report 9 Sep 2007 23:43

I must take issue with Muffy !

How can the UK press be regarded as fools when they do no more than report the words of the McCanns closest ........................ they were offered a plea bargain by the police !!!
