Can place of birth be split into two fields, Town and County? When searching for my family name, and adding place of birth to the search, the results are erratic because some people have stated town only whereas some have put "town, county" into their record. This means that if you search on town only the records with " , county" after the town are excluded from the results. One can search multiple times, but then you have to predict what people have added to the text after town. So either split the place of birth into town, county or change your search engine to allow partial string matching in the first characters. E.g. a search for "hastings" would return matches "Hastings, Sussex" instead of excluding them. Great concept though!! |
