Regarding identity fraud - Almost all the information you would put into your tree is readily available publically whether it be in the GRO indexes, electoral roles, phone books, marketing databases or the thousands of pieces of paper you (or companies you have delt with) throw out every week. Most fraudsters will use those sources, not your family websites and in a population of 60 million + its extremely paranoid to believe you'll be a victim. Consider that several thousand people in the UK maintain personal webpages where they give their names, birthdays, addressess and even phone numbers. Many publish daily/weekly diaries online and this seems like a more logical source of information if fraudsters did resort to internet sources. |
