I was adopted in the late forties and, although I have the names and address of my parents who were married, I cannot find any trace. I seem to have hit a brick wall. I seems as if it was a private adoprion. Anyone any helpful ideas? Brenda (Marjorie) Larkin |

I too was adopted in 1953..... I managed to get hold of my birth cert which shows my birth mother's name.... but thats about it - BRICK WALL like you! Records prior to 1953 seemingly have been destroyed.... Cumbria Morale Society is now defunct. WHY SHOULD IT BE SOOOO IMPOSSIBLE!!! Keep on trying.... |

hi, i was adopted in 1964 and in 1984 sucessfully traced my birth mother. To start with i had to go through social services to get my original birth certificate which i got then they tried to cousell me and put me off the idea. Then i heard off a man who worked for B.A. at heathrow near where i live that was trying to trace a friends natural brother who was adopted at birth, his hobby was family trees. I gave him my birth certificate and within 3 days had found my birth mother. He had traced her through St. Catherines House and obtaing her birth certificate, then marriage certificate. He then found out an address under her married name and sat outside the front on the house for hours until someone came out only to find out that they had divorced so obtained her second marriage certificate and traced her to devon where she married then to a village 20 mins from me. He rang her up then rang me with her phone no. So luckily it all ended happily. I was adopted privately and born in a private nursing home in London and im pleased i tried this way of finding her as i think if i had gone through the correct procedures would come upon a brick wall.Just thought i would share my story with u. |

It would be of some advantage in contacting NORCAP. They are a registered charity who specifically deal with Adoptions and reuniting families. You do have to pay a £10 annual fee but thats it. Complete an application form and enclose with it your birth certificate(if you can). From there NORCAP can do the necessary checks. Within 2-3weeks of my application they managed to find an aunty of mine who had been adopted during the world. They too can act as an intermediary if you require. I would thoroughly recommend them anyday!! PS I am in regular contact with my Aunt every week, and although we have not met yet,(Due to living far away from eachother) I know we will get on like a house on fire. We shall be meeting next month. Good Luck. Lisa C |

Hi, I found my natural Mum with the help of Joan Allan and her colleague Debbie Wilson at myfolks (dot) (co) (dot) (uk)who are specialists in this field, and also only ask for expenses rather than make profit from the search. They are marvellous people who seem to work miracles in finding lost people with the very smallest amount of info to go on. Please give them a try. |
