Dear GC, Further to my comments about different spellings of Surnames. Is there any chance of a complete alphabetical list of the Surnames which have been submitted? This would give us a chance to browse through and see if there are any strays which otherwise may not come to mind. What jogged my mind into thinking of this was that I recently saw reference to the name Metherall and it struck me that this could very easily have been a mis-reading of Wetherall from early records but I would never in a month of Sundays have considered that name to exist. Good site. Getting better all the time. Jim, Gosport |

It just got worse!!! I looked up some Parish Registers from Cumbria and now have 33 Variations of the Surname Weatherall. This is not including those where a transcriber has helpfully read the W as an M. Please GC help me, I am drowning in an Ocean of surnames. It will take me all day to lookup all the alternatives to see whether someone else is researching my lines. |

Hi, I used to live near a place called Wetheral in Cumbria- so another variation to add to your list! |
