You might be able to buy a copy of the MI for the cemetery from the local FHS. Most (all?) FHS will have a WWW site which lists their publications - find them through a WWW search or GENUKI. It is always worth a WWW search because there are a limited number of cemetery indexes online. MB |

I think a special board for willing helpers is a great idea. I live in Lincolnshire but go up to Newcastle quite often(hubbie is a football mad ex-pat geordie) so I do quite a lot of work at the library etc. Im willing to help anyone if i can with records for Newcastle, Sunderland etc. best wishes Claire |

It is on our list of things to do. We were going to create a public records visiting board so people can ask other members if they want help if they are going to be making a visit somewhere. Hope that will help - not sure exactly when its going to done yet though |

Well I sent an email to GC about a Help Board and they responded immediately. It seems they're thiking about it - so perhaps if we all email them with the same sort of thing they'll think even more about it. Susan from Louth - lovely town - we lived there till aboout 18 months ago and sadly left it - lived there for 5 years but miss it like mad. Graham |

I presume GC have given up reading the Guest board because of all the postings. This is not meant to be a criticsism but there is so much on this board it must be hard for them to pick out messages which are actually suggestions and comments as stated at top. Lynne |

Does anyone know of a way to get GC to act on suggestions? I've just been back to FriendsReunited and new boards are coming out of the woodwork almost on a daily basis - seems such a shame when we have a willlingness by lots of folks to help others and we can't co-ordinate it here, which ,when all is said and done is the ideal place for it. I think a board with people who are willing to help is a great idea. I am willing to do 1881 Scottish Census lookups for people but my message either disappears or I have to write another one to keep it on the boards. Susan |

I wonder if GC aren't that interested in creating a special board for people willing to help. Perhaps it might be an idea to set something up ourselves. I have a fair bit of space on my NTL website for such a project. Trouble is that it takes time for it to get spidered and onto any search engine, usually 6 weeks if you're lucky. At least doing something like that it could be kept in order. The difficulty I see about doing it here is that it would need a common format so that everyone knew where to look for what. Has anyone any more suggestions? Graham |

I will do the same in SUSSEX but GC do not seem to want to put in a special page for this as I have asked them. But if everybody interested were to ask them perhaps they would. The other suggestion was to do it the other way around. So if you needed help you put a message up and anybody with the time in that area could go and look at the cemetery. I have already asked for help with a Cemetery in Sunderland but unless somebody see it when it is posted it get lost in the old messages. Jim Mckinney Sussex |

Genes Connected. Can you look at this and make a consideration please. On the Tips board Margaret Mitchell has offered her help to track deceased relatives in her local grave yard for members that live a long way a way. This is a great idea and i have now done the same. Can we have a separate board of members offering local help like this to other members? |
