Does anyone have any thoughts about the name MAY? I know it can be a standalone name but could it possibly be either a nickname or an abbreviation?? Peter |

My mum was called May. Some folks called her Kay, Mavis, Mary (much to her disMAY) I have also heard that Amaryllis was sometimes shortened to May. regards Di |

I would agree with Kathleen that May is a variant of MARY. Ref. 'First name Variants' by Alan Bardsley Vera Manchester LAN |
