am selfishly giving this a nudge up! Am having very little in the way of success- and still don't really know where to look. Is there an equivalent of the 1901 or earlier censuses- or trade directories? Rosi |

Teresa and Eileen I must confess I have done little but boggle at the problem - and attack another twig of the family tree! But the positive attitude adopted by you two, and others, is very encouraging - so maybe I will sally forth tomorrow! Cheers! Rosi Colch.ESS |

James, and Theresa - thank you for your interest and help. I will look with more dedication into the problem(s) when dryred is playing a less prominent part. But it is well toward the witching hour right now- and my Irish ancestry seems to be showing! Again thankyou. I am glad that it appears not to be a total deadloss - and I may well be able to progress (or is that regress?) further. Rosi |

It is really difficult with Irish ancestry as I am finding out. I asked Anthony how to proceed in his live web chat this week. He said there were very few Irish birth certs. I know alot ot records were destroyed in a fire in the 1920's. Its fun trying. Jim Sussex |

Rosi, Can't help, but I think you'd get more of a response if you put this on the "tips board", just a thought. Kim |

I knew it was likely- but now it has happened! One of my just received certs. proves that my ancesters are/were Irish. William M Kearns married Letitia H Brough, both widowed, in 1876. Their fathers, respectively John Kearns, Doctor, an Henry Evans, Colonel, were Dublin born. I would appreciate any help/advice as to how to proceed from here. Fingers are crossed that someone may be able to point me in the right direction - please! Rosi |
