I am trying to trace my birth mother. I know she was single, where she lived and her name in 1965. Information i received suggests she married within a couple of years of my birth. Can anybody suggest how i can trace her without parting with huge amounts of cash through a tracing organisation? Many thanks Kathryn |

Hi Joan Allan at myfolks(.)co(.)uk charged me expenses only to find my mum, which she did within a few weeks. It was a fraction of the cost of all the other tracing services I looked at, and she also asked for no cash up front. I think it is outrageous that some of these organisations ask for several hundred pounds in advance, as well as a further load after. Joan certainly does not come in to this category! Liz STS |

Elizebeth Thanks for the information. I did visit that web site earlier today but didnt know which option to choose. Did you go through Omnitrace or Find birth parents? Many thanks Kathryn |

Hi Georgina Thanks for the info. I have successfully traced my father through After Adoption but we have found it more difficult with my mother. My social worker has agreed to keep trying. cheers Kathryn |

Hi again, I rang Joan directly, her number is listed on the website, and gave her all the details I knew. She is very approachable and will always make time to talk and listen, much better than filling in forms over the web Liz STS |

Hi Liz I rang Joan direct last night and within an hour she had traced my birth mother. She is sending her a letter today. Thanks a million. Kathryn. |

I think this Joan lady deserves a nudge up - she is obviously performing a very efficient and much wanted service - more power to her elbow! Rosi |
