Westgate Newcastle is/was in the County of Northumberland,now newcastle upon tyne.Westgate nr Stanhope is in the county of Durham.So they are 2 different places.Northumberland and Durham were next to each other.Im sure places are given the same name in order to confuse us!! |

Some of my family came from Westgate, Nr. Stanhope, Co. Durham. Is Westgate, Newcastle, the same area, or is this a borough within Newcastle. Audrey |
