My great grandpa - John William (Jack) Kibler, who was killed by a mortar at Ypres in 1918 (age 38) - his body was never found. His name is inscribed on the memorial at Pozieres near Albert in France. He left a wife and 6 very young children.

Only last year my second cousin gave me a photo of him and notes my great aunt Lily had made about when her dad came home from the war after he had been gassed, and he had frostbite and trench foot. He went back to France and was killed shortly afterwards. He looked so young ...

In rememberance of my grandfather Private William Coombs 13th Kensington Bn. London Regiment. Fatally wounded in Levantie, repatriated to Thanet Kent and died 2nd Feb. 1915.

Also Uncle John T Rogers who was 18yrs when he signed up. Last seen by his brother in France. All who might have known your regiment and where you fell have now passed on. But those that are left know of your sacrifice.
