Can anyone help me search old electoral rolls in Oz for a lady who may have lived alone in the household that left the UK in late 50's/ early 60's with 2 young children? I am trying to help someone in the UK and we cannot find any family members that know where she went to in Australia and when. Anyone got any ideas how to go about finding her.? Lady was Pauline Richardson nee Staerck (b1934) was married to James Edward Richardson (deceased in UK), children Pauline K (b1954) and Angela Richardson (b1952). Any help more than welcome. Thanks Joan |

Well Bill, you won't believe this but we only got back from a month in Oz on 19 December. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip spent touring the middle to right hand side of Oz. My best memory will always be the 2 nights spent on Heron Island on the barrier reef. Total isolation, no phones, no TV, no locks on the doors, just tranquility and peace - real chill out. Worst, the expectation of a helicopter ride there (my worst nightmare) but it was such an experience - I found out I was going on the helicopter about 15 minutes before we were due for take-off!!! Other worst nightmare is cable cars - husband also set me up for this - a trip near Port Douglas - 5 miles in a car up and over a mountain. I can tell you my bum was glued to the seat. Husband now duly warned - no bungee jumps, no walk over the Sydney Bridge or he would come home in a box!!! (I love him really and he just wants the best for me - (in his eyes only!!). My revenge will be sweet. |

Joan, you could spend your whole holiday around Sydney harbour. Lived there for 20 years. Didnt walk over the harbour bridge though, Do you mean over the top ? , you can do that too. you should have stopped for the New Years Fireworks. I now stay in the Southern Alps , near Mt Hotham. |

Dear Bill Yes, I saw them walking over the top of Sydney bridge - not my cup of tea at all. Let the dare devils of this world do it but it's not for me. I am a coward in many senses, I think it is a matter of: if I am not in control or I can't see someone I trust that may be able to control the situation then forget it. Maybe in another life someone forced me into a situation I didn't like and therefore nowadays I will not go down that avenue without force. I just cannot explain to anyone why I am like this. |
