I think we should call ourselves shrubites instead of wycombeites, its a small world for a fact ,.maybe i should go back again and complete the full circle lol i,m about due for the knackers yard according to the missus,i think she is trying to trade me in for a newer model, but this old heap has a few miles left yet.Fred.

Hi Susie I have been around. I looked for the thread but it seemed to have disappeared so I thought it had become time-expired. Glad you're back. How did you manage it? I cannot imagine what the two oil-sliks are, on your lawn. Could it be something seeping up from below ? What was there before you laid the new turf?. Len

Yep Susie born in the shrubbery home off amersham hill ,you can,t be much more wycombeite than that . My gawd,it sounds as though there ain,t a lot left of the old stomping ground at all,i knew the old fountain in frogmore had gone ,along with the cinemas [all four i believe] but i thought the market was a part of wycombes fabric,oh well it would seem that nothing is sacred anymore.I have some family still living on the Hicks farm estate in Hatters lane but the rest have moved on ,my mum and sister moved to linc,s and my uncle and family moved to chipping norton, but the area keeps calling to me ,and after all i spent a happy childhood there despite the difficult time just after the war .I still remember the sweet coupons and food being on ration ,so i guess Len does as well.Fred.

Hi gaynor ,iv,e just come back from a busy day at the seaside with half of the grandkids, well ive only got a car and 14 into 1 dosn,t go ,so the other half have to go tomorrow for my sins.[take no notice i enjoyed every sandy, salt water in shoes minute].Totteridge is in the outskirts of high wycombe on top of a hill ,hence,i suppose the bit of the name ridge, perhaps some local could tell me where the totter bit comes from,i lived there for 19 years and i don,t know.Any way i live in Newcastle now but miss my old home after all these years ,i think that part of the country gets under your skin,i,m always tuning in to this thread to see what the latest scuttlebutt is.Fred.
