I have a very faint memory of Lyons and of a big toy shop somewhere round that way. My sister remembers the fountain on Frogmore and I remember the old blue Police Box there. I was always frit that Doctor Who would come leaping out of it ..lol It's all like an old black and white movie when I think about it now. Oh and didnt the Wanderers have a wonky pitch for a long while? Sheila :0)

Here i am,fresh back from my fishing trip to find you lot on about wooden floors and gas lamps in woolworths ,mien gott i thought i was the oldy. lol. if you can remember that ,you must remember the wall to ceiling mirrors and the glass tables in lyons just over the road,and the yummy sticky buns for sale [i said BUNS ladies.]I can remember having a coffee in there and then off down to the rye and Loakes park to watch the wanderers playing football,i still follow the team too ,by eck they could show united a thing or two. I follow the wasps as well despite the mickey taking ,i,m lucky as i have two good rugger teams to listen to and watch.We have a howling gale up here at the minute so i think i had better go outside and fasten the wifes flower pots down before they take off.The missis will do me a mischief if she looses her plants,lol.Fred.ptfg.

Hi Trish Im fine thanks. I was having a conversation with my sister the other day about Woolworth's in Wycombe (back in the 60's) Do you remember the wooden floors and gas lamps too? lol I dont think that we are really that old ...just that they were a bit behind the times. Hi Fred, don't know if Mr Smith was ever an art teacher - I had him as headmaster in the late? 60's. There was also a teacher I'll never forget!!! Miss Andrews, she was my form teacher at one time. I liked Mr Smith though, he was really nice and very fair. The school before that was at the Marsh Infants. Don't remember much about that, it was close to the Mead Silly question but is Totteridge Lane in Totteridge? My grandparents came from there, well my grandfather on my mothers side - His name was Wilfred Bristow.

Another one was born at the shrubbery and went to the onions,says Fred, i think half of wycombe went to the onions ,it might be interesting to see how many of us went to gorden road before that.This headmaster Smith ,wouldn,t by any chance be the Smith who was the art teacher beforehand would it.?I seem to remember an art teacher who used to throw pencils about if anyone messed up his drawing class[guilty],but apart from that he was a good teacher.Fred.ptfg.

Hi all ,reading Lesley,s notes there ,i,m a bit far along for angioplasty ,but ive aready bought some running shoes for when i get this bypass done ,i can go for my runs on the beach and have the best of both worlds.I,m off to get packed shortly ,my son and i are away to scotland after some big fish,we may with some luck get in among some nice cod seeing as we will be off shore most of the time in a boat.I suggested taking the shotgun in case we came across some wild haggis but the son said no.lol.Fred.ptfg.

ellen you grew up with me then!!! lol i went to bookerhill primary,then onto cressex school i live in booker.wat a small world isnt it lol my daughter lives in downley. nell i live not far from the wasps ground,5 mins a way actually lol i love rugby,and watch them once in a while hubby is doing as hes told at the moment,hes got no choice with me around!! since hes had his angioplas hes been fine,although he dint even know he had heart problems before he had it lol the only reason it was discovered was because he kept feeling dizzy and so decided to go for a check up good job he did or he might not be here now it makes me shudder just thinking about it susie

Hi Susire, Fred etal. I am late again...it took me until today to realize the only way to read this now was to reverse the order. Susie I live in Canada now I am hoping to come over for Xmas and try and do a little research while I am there. I also had an angioplasty 2 years ago. I take my pills everyday and now I run every day as well. They did say that if I cut out fats, get my heart rate up each day and watch the salt ,that I could reverse this disease.....I work on it every single day. Your hubby will do fine I am sure. Susie I'm not from Bucks, though my great-great-grandmother was born in Farnham Royal. I have however drunk in many pubs in south Bucks - Amersham, Chesham, Fingest, Speen, Penn, Northend, Turville, Chipperfield, Sarratt et cetera. I am also a supporter of WASPS so spend a lot of time drinking in High Wycombe too. Incidentally, HW is where I bought my first sofa. nell

Hi Susie ,i ,m glad to hear that hubby is a lot better,but if he keeps forgetting to take his Atteninol i will report him to the nurse at his surgery and she will sort him out. I hope your little trip out with Gaynor and Rob goes well ,she is a very special lady ,so are quite a few of you come to that. I will have to go now ,Liz is still a bit under the weather and i,m going to take her a drink up and make sure she is comfy.ttfn.Fred.ptfg.

my word fred,you have been busy lol i do hope that you soon get the nod though.it must be awful waiting . hubby is fine after his angioplas. mind you,without me putting his tablets out each night for him ,he wouldnt take them!! he says he keeps forgetting lol so when i give him his tea i put a glass of water with his aspirin in and his little pink anti clotting pill on the table next to it so that way HE wont forget lol you men eh? without us women you wouldnt survive lmao i noticed that you have got ptfg next to your name we are taking gaynor and rob with us to weymouth today for the weekend we are going to meet up with alfie mockridge i cant wait .... im sooo excited lmao susie

No susie ,still waiting ,i rather hope i won,t get the call for a few more weeks now as i would rather be settled in our new house.Things are moving along nicely ,the building survay went like a dream ,and it really now hinges on the soliciters search of titles and such.We are very hopeful though.Fred ptfg.

Blimey Lesley ,you are going to have some fun looking for all those places no wonder you need some local help.I was lucky ,my lot were in London[hounslow] ,and wycombe ,most of them being buried at west wycombe,and a few in wycombe itself so i went down from newcastle for a week and managed to glean all my info from the gravestones.The only one i couldnt find was my grandpa ,and i learned later that i had been looking in the wrong place.Good luck ,i think you are going to need it .Hi Susie ,i was beginning to think you had emigrated lol..How you doing.Fred.ptfg.
