Hi Rosemary, welcome :)) Threads will maybe lead you to information, and also lead to lots of fun and crazy stuff. This board is a crazy and informative one. The trying-to-find one is quite good. Have fun and come and yak to us all on the members board.

Hi Rosemary! If I understood your question correctly you want to know what a thread is. An example of a thread, here at Genes Connected, is what you started here....by asking a question and people coming back and replying. Your on the "Guest Message Board", the thread being "What are threads?" Mags is right, you sure can learn a whole lot from the good folks here at GC! Welcome to the boards! Judy

Hi Rosemary This keeps this thread moving up. If you only have the name, then you need to get a rough idea of age at death, or birth. You can then use GRO [General Records Office] indexes, which will be [hopefully] available at your local reference library. These are held in date order starting in 1837, in separate microfiche, births, deaths and marriages. From these, once you are satisfied you have the right person, you can get certificate copies either from the original registrar [cheapest] or from the National Records Archive. Good hunting Badger

Rosemary You should probably start with your nan's birth cert. That should give you the names you need

Hello Rosemary, Strange question but, do you live in Hampshire? Maggie

A thread is a topic of conversation and all the answers, questions and comments that arise from that original question or comment. All answers should relate to the original but as you will see on these boards, they often go astray. Bob

Ok Bob, I said it was a strange question for this thread! But I may know Rosemary from the past, then again she may not be the one I know, so I don't want to e-mail her directly, may be a bit intrusive! Rosemary, if you come back to this thread, live in Hampshire and know Caroline & Gerry (my Bro) you know me!!

Yes robert... All threads should keep to the subject. Mysterious Bumping" is a fine example to us all. Bob
