Hi Wendy, Nothing wrong with your wording. I had a blonde moment! Your Mum is making progress, good for her! My sister tells me that our Mum won't even discuss learning to use the computer. Which makes it difficult for me as long distance phone calls are costly. Lindy:-) |

Hello Doreen, Had to tell you this. In the Mail today, a lady has written in to say that at the age of 70 she bought a compooter.then she was terrified on turning it on and doing something terrible to close it down. She started to type with one finger and gradually got to use both hands. She wanted to write a book about the Black Country during the thirties. She had that first book published last year, and its now in several libraries in the Black Country. She is putting the finishes to a second book and has a third planned for next year. Inbetween times she enjoys e-mailing to her friend in New Zealand. Don't know when she finds time for her domestic duties!!! Like the rest of us, she probably thinks they are not all-important. Hope you've enjoyed reading the messages that (Wendy in Hampshire) printed off for you and took them in the spirit in which they were intended, caring and encouraging. So have you got a hidden book in you? Love/hugs Norah |

Hello Doreen - What's kept you? Wendy (This is for when your mum comes on your compooter) Back to you Doreen - Welcome to you from all of us poor souls who have got nothing better to do than to talk to each other instead of doing the washing, ironing,dusting,polishing,vacuumning,shopping,cooking.etc.etc.etc. This is far more fun. We are hoping that you and your hubby will join us in the not too distant future. Love and a Big Hug from Norah |

Hi Wendy Well done Leonard, it keeps the old brain box active doesn't it? Now Wendy, if you keep sileent on the subject, could be that your mum's curiosity might get the better of her. You never know, she might already be having a BIG PONDER ABOUT IT! Norah |

I bought my Dell Dimension Multimedia Desktop by mail order for my 75th birthday - then spent three weeks awaiting delivery, having sleepless nights thinking I must have been nuts, dementia has set in, what a waste of money, I'll never get the hang of it. Then it came (about 5 years ago now) and I spent a week learning how to switch it on and close down (it ticked me off if I did not do it properly). After that I reckoned on learning something new every week. One of my more sensible moves in life. I am now thinking of updating to a current model, something really powerful. |

Hi Wendy, Hi Doreen It's funny, since I've had XP, I don't get the illegal messages any more, but I do keep getting:- Do you want ActiveX/plugins - can't remember the rest. But I can press yes or no. I press yes, because anything going thats free, I'll have. No Idea what they are - can anyone enlighten me please? |

Oh Bev, I like that one.....because I can equate with it! I was always getting that same message, and I would sit wondering what had I done that was illegal.....(never been in trouble with the police....well not for anything serious) until reading the questions and answers in a computer magazine, someone else mentioned it, and I realised I wasn't in BIG TROUBLE after all. |

My mother-in-law decided to get a compooter and I received a telephone call from her she was all of a dither, she told me that her pooter had a message on screen that she had made an ileagal move and it was going to shut down, the reason for her call was that she was expecting the police to come round!!! now she is ok with the system but it was so funny to hear the panick in her voice. |
