Ann I don't know what planet I was on last night but the town twinned with Witney is in fact Unterhaching not Taufkirchen, which are next to one another. I live in Taufkirchen not more than half a mile from where Taufkirchen borders Unterhaching. I used to work in Unterhaching and I eat out there fairly regularly. Like I say I don't quite know why I said Taufkirchen is the twin town last night, must have been a bit tired!! ;-) Unterhaching for all the football fans out there was the third team in Munich for 2 seasons when it stood shoulder to shoulder with Bayern Munich and 1860. Alas they were relegated twice in two years back to regional league football. Anyway, its about 6 to 7 miles away from the centre of Munich to the South East. Regards Simon |

I too lived in Witney for a number of years on the then new Smiths estate in Fettiplace Road. My two daughters were born in our house there. We lived opposite the public house The Rowing Machine. We still have friends in and around Witney and was there last year. This year too hopefully. It has grown immensely since we moved away. |
