Derek, Have e-mailed you. The lovely poem brought tears to my eyes!! Have been in hospital and only just picked up the remaining thread. I thought other dog (or cat) lovers might appreciate the lovely words of the poignant poem sent in by Derek. With belated thanks to everyone for your concern, Love to all, Kathy xx |

Having lost one GSD we thought we could never love another but KOYLI came into our lives and is really someone special. The following poem was given to us by the breeder, And if I can see through the tears here go's My gift from God I'll give to you for just a while A shepherd pup God said, For you to love the while he lives, And mourn for when he's dead. Maybe years just eight or ten, Or only two or three, But will you till I take him back, Take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you And should his stay be brief, Your'll always have his memories As solace for your grief I cannot promise he will stay As all from earth return. But there are lessons taught below, I wish this pup to learn I've looked the whole world over In search of teachers true And from the folk that crowd life's lane, I have chosen you. Now will you give him all your love Nor think the labour vain Nor hate me when I come to take My shepherd back again? I fancied that I heard them say "Dear Lord, thy will be done" For all the love this pup will bring The risk of grief we'll run We'll shelter him with tenderness, We'll love him while we may And for all the happiness we've known Forever grateful stay, But should you come to call him back Much sooner then we planned We'll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand If by our love we've managed Your wishes to achive In memory of him we loved To help us while we grieve When our lovely faithful bundle Departs this world of strife We,ll have another shepherd pup And we'll love him all his life Our KOYLI is now nearly 10 and I'm sad to say because of our age's will be our last dog. I have had dog's all my life and alway's held them at the end.. Got to go now and find the tissue's Julia |
