When I was 8 I walked in my sleep down two flights of stairs and woke with my arms round my 18 year old sister who was having a party. I could only explain that I had to say goodbye to her. She was a hospital nurse and was returning to her hospital about 11pm but on the way she was run down and killed by a hit and run driver. So far as I know, I never walked in my sleep before or after. My brother called me one morning at 4.30am to say his first born had arrived at 30 weeks and my instant reaction was to say "don't worry babe she'll be home in 3 weeks"..... they had told him that she would be there for 3 months but sure enough 3 weeks later to the day she was home and is now a happy healthy 6 year old that wraps us all round her finger!! When child number 2 was 1 month away, I called him and told him that his wife would go into labour that day and sure enough 9.45pm that evening labour started..... My best friend was shocked to get a call from me saying get ready exactly at the same time as her waters breaking..... Gut feeling/Instinct/Premonition..... all the same sence that we fail to acknowledge but keeps happening to most of us!! ;o) |

I knew/felt to the exact minute as to when my mum died, 23.55. Wasn't actually told until a few hours later. This was exactly 6 months after my eldest was born - at 23.55. |

Premonitions, sixth sense and that gut feeling is very real to me. I stopped getting involved in discussions about it with others because I cannot answer that very important question of "How do you know what you know" I don't know. I just know. Go figure.... Lindy:-) |

Many years ago my mum called up the stairs one morning to tell my dad that a famous racing driver had died - she said she had just heard it on the news. Nothing on any TV or radio news that day or in the papers. One week later at the same time of morning, the radio news announced the death that had happened the night before. |

Arthur Koestler, the philosopher, and a very pragmatic thinker was so convinced that we have other senses, he left a large sum of money to create a Chair at Edinburgh University to consider such phenonema. He also observed "coincidences occur too often for them to be coincidences" |

NoI don't think there is anything coincidental about premonitions - they are real and should always be acted upon. But is a 'gut feeling' the same as a premonition? Norah in Hampshire |

When I was 18, my Mum died after a long battle with Cancer in Dec 1991. A little while later I ditched my boyfriend and spent most evenings and weekends clubbing and out with friends. One particular Saturday night the following May I decided not to go out with my friends but stay in and spend the night with my Dad. We sat in the front room, he in his favourite chair and me at his feet. We had a great evening watching Frankie Howerd on TV and went off to bed later on. During the night I heard my Dad calling me. He was sitting up in bed having a massive asthma attack. By 6am he had died. I always wonder about that night and what it was that had made me decide not to go out. This wasn't normal for me but I am so glad that I had that one last night with him and the happy memory of sitting at his feet like a little girl again. Also a week before Christmas 2003 my husband woke in the morning and said he'd dreamed his dad Frank had died. That day was an important London Derby football match. My husbands uncle had gone and supported the "other" team to my husband and his Dad. In the evening they got a phone call expecting it to be Uncle Frank to talk about the game but instead it was his daughter to say that Frank had died on the way to the game. Is this too much of a coincidence? |
