My Message: Please can you tell me and the other people who use GC what is going on. Some Full members as well as unpaid contributors are being prevented from adding to boards. These changes were not informed in advance to the users let alone suggested. You are losing current members and prospective new members. Sort it out please and apologise to those people you have offended by making these changes without advance notification. thank you. Fi Their response: Dear Fi, I am sorry that you have felt the need to complain to GenesConnected. As you are aware, it has recently becoming necessary to make postings on all of our other Message Boards available to our paying members only - this is the only change that we have made to the services that we provide. We have made this change following repeated complaints from our upgraded members concerning non-paying members who were posting offensive or inappropriate material on our message boards. It is, however, still free to register with GenesConnected. A standard member can build their family tree, use the search facilities to find possible matches to their family name, add notes against relations in their tree, receive emails from other members and view the Resource Centre and the Message Boards. Also, If that person already has experience in researching their family history they can import a GEDCOM file on to their GenesConnected family tree. If a person chooses to upgrade to full membership for the current annual fee of £7.50, they will have the added ability to send unlimited contact emails to other members from their search results, link up to view other members' trees when they are invited to do so, post photos on their family tree and now, post an unlimited amount of messages on any of our message boards. As previously mentioned, this change was implemented as a direct result of feedback from our paying members and although it would neither be appropriate or practical for us to give advance notice of every change that we make on our website, we do ensure that all relevant text both in the Help area and the Terms & Conditions on our website are updated to reflect any changes. Regards NickyD http://www.GenesConnected.com |

I got the same response Fi, and when I replied and reiterated how I felt, I got a very short, and curt response this morning that expressed utter indifference to what I or anyone else thinks. Not a happy camper, Di. |

The reply I got was: Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Your comments have been noted and will be taken into account when considering future site developments. Regards Nicky D This does not solve the current situation and judging by the comments that other members have made, the likelyhood of them taking my comments into account are about zero! Sue G |

I have to say that this corse of action by GC will not stop full members from posting abusive or ofensive materials on the boards! What it will do though is stop people using GC and in turn they will not recommend GC to other people - I think the term shooting yourself in the foot is rather apt here! |

Hi Vicki, I totally agree with your shot in the foot syndrome. I am a fully paid up member and found every one on the members board not only helpful but amusing. GC i would imagine know the offensive offenders, so why not just punish them?? Come on GC PUT THE ENTERTAINMENT BACK ON!!!!!!! |

If a certain amount of people complain about a particular person and they are seen to be abusive on the message boards why cant Gc block them? Or am I being a bit slow here? Debbi |
