If you mean you're new to genealogy, then I would suggest you talk to your parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents and extract as much information as you possibly can about the family, including stories handed down. Write down the names and places mentioned - they will come in handy later on. Find out the names of your grandparents' parents, their brothers and sisters, etc. Just ask questions - they'll more than likely tell you things they haven't spoken about for years. I designed a Family Questionairre which I handed round to my family members. If you would like a copy, email me, and I'll send one to you. Hope this helps. Janet

Hi Brian Another idea is to visit your Local Library and ask if they have a local studies Dept, they gave ma a lot of help when I first started, also visit your nearest LDS center that's the Mormon Church but you don't have to be a member, just ring them up amd make an appt. Regards Ann

your best bet is to be guided by the people who use the board....click on message boards...to the left of the page....and then on members board....you can ask whoever is there how to get what you want.....it worked for me good luck chrisstine

Have you tried clicking the "Build your tree" bit on the Home Page? It's a while since I had no one in my tree, but I think from there you can start by putting yourself in and just adding people from there. As a minimum you need name, birth year and birth place. If you don't know birth year you can put in 0's, and if you don't know place you can put in "?". Hope that helps.
