Thanks to Judy and Leonard, I'll try to get a copy to you Judy, when I can get to grips with the photo programme on this computer!! Loenard , your tip sounds good, I have a military photo and can't make out the cap badges, so will try what you suggest. It's great to know there are helpful people on the GC site. Sue |

Sylvia I have had two done. One by a friend (for free) who has since moved away. I had a 1918 photo of my Dad in army uniform and could not make out his regimental hat-badge. I enlarged it photographically and merely enlarged the blur. The friend enhanced it with university equipment and the hat-badge was instantly recognisable. The computer enhancement also revealed for the first time that he was wearing rimless glasses which were not visble on the original or photographic copies. Then I had one done by a professional firm who advertised in one of the Family History magazines. Service was good, it cost £25 but the improvement was marginal. It was not a good original,t hough, being a bit out of focus,. It might be worth having a photographic copy done first as often the copies are much better than the original. I have done lots. Its cheap too, if you know someone with a good SLR or digital camera. Use ordinary colour film. Len |
