Oh yum Daphne! This sounds like it for sure....my mouth is watering as I reply :o)) I will definitely try Golden Buck and suprise my friend with a bit of nostalgia, then worry about the pounds I've put on afterwards!! Thanks again for your time Aileenx |

Thanks Daphne and Norah, I did originally think my friend was talking about Welsh Rarebit but she reckoned that the mixture sat really 'high' on the toast which made her wonder whether eggs had been added. I shall still try your recipes which sound delicious and then maybe do them again with an egg added to see if there is any difference. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply Aileenx |

Hi Aileen, The only thing I can think of is Welsh Rarebit. 1-oz Softened butter 1 level teaspoon made mustard 1/4 level teaspoon salt Shake of Cayenne pepper Dash of Worcester sauce 6-oz grated cheddar cheese 2 tablespoons milk Warm butter, stir in mustard, salt, pepper, sauce, cheese and milk. Toast four slices of bread on one side only. Spread mixture on untoasted side of bread. Brown under hot grill and ENJOY If you put a poached egg on top of each cooked slice it's called Buck Rarebit. Hi all...Yesterday my friend from the Wirral told me of a snack she used to have when she was younger. She knows that cheese was melted in a saucepan, along with other things, possibly eggs, milk and seasonings until really frothy and then spooned onto toast. Apparently it was delicious and thick but she doesn't really know anymore.....She said it had an amazing taste......Can anyone give me the recipe as I'd love to surprise her! Love Aileenx |
