Hi Maud. I'm so glad the site was helpful!!!! I've been having a busy time lately and it cheers me up to hear when people are successful. Now that I'm almost done with one project I've been working on at home, I've got a lot of catching up to do for other GC people, but when I get that done, I'll try to think of other ways I can help you. |

Hi Lisa, Whoopeee!! Thank you thank you for the additional info, I types the info you supplied into Google and was successful!! I will start searching for Catherine Hayes etc, but in the meantime I looked up another ancestor (my gt aunt Grace Gagan she married Augustus Gartland) I already knew her details & children (he was a widower) found to my surprise the name has been transcribed incorrec ctly as Gaitland instead of Gartland, however, that now gives me a clue to check alternate names in case of any errors in transcription, it is also a helpful hint I suppose for anyone else using the site, to keep checking just in case! again many thanks. I will have to accept that if I cannot find Laura, she probably married, so that will be my next brick wall, still never mind, will keep on hoping to discover her, Maud |

Hi Maud: I just copied the site I gave you and it is working right now at least. Did you remember to remove the ( ) in the name? I'm not available right now to help, but I will check later today to see if you were successful. Hope it works for you now. If all else fails, you can do a google search for: "automated genealogy 1901 census transcription project". (Type google in the address bar, press go and insert the above phrase WITH the quotes. It should call up the site.) |

Back home for a few minutes (in between dropping kids at school and leaving for work). Didn't see your ancestor (but only looked quickly). Do see a Catherine Hayes: 8 13 Hayes Catherine F Mother W Sep 21 1837 63 (site explains this in English so you can understand it) Easiest way to look things up is type in ancestor's initial under the national summary and proceed from there (rather than checking each locality in Ontario). Perhaps Laura was married by 1901. Someone else may be able to help you; or I will try to come back here tonight. Good luck! |

Hi Maud: I'm in a rush this morning -- typical for me. You can check this site, they've transcribed about 50% of the 1901 census. Perhaps you might find who you are looking for there. (remove the brackets first) http://automatedgenealogy(.)com/census/NationalSummary.jsp Or, maybe someone else might have access to the records. |

Hi, Is there anyone on the site from Ontario Canada? who would be willing to do a look up for me on the 1901 Ontario census I am trying to find out if my gt aunt Laura Gagan is on there my last sighting of her (sent by a friend who went to Canada) was on the 1891 census, she was a domestic servant with widow Catherine Hayes. Perhaps however she married, is it possible to find her marriage? thanks to anyone who can help Maud |
