Hi Rebecca have you applied for your Grans birth certificate this should have her parents names on, try the general register office you can order certificates online (which i have done) as long as you have her full name and date of birth, you should be ok! Sorry no idea for the adoption matter except applying for the certificate can't hurt, if it's no help, well you've still got family history in your hand anyway! Good luck Vikki |

I'm trying to trace the family history back on my fathers side at the moment. I know that his father was apparently born in Portsmouth on 24-2-1919. He was later adopted by the Kelly's. His name at birth was Henry Walder...but his adoptive parents by accident changed that to Walden. Would his adoption papers have his real parents details on it? How else would I go about tracing beyond him? On my grans side...I know that she was nee Delece Scott on 7-3-c1924 in Hampshire. I don't however know her mothers maiden name nor her fathers forename so I'm not sure where to go from there either. I do know that on her side the family name apparently goes back to 1863 with a connection to the Scotts of Buccleuch. Anyway...if anyone can give me any ideas on what to do next...it would be much appreciated. |
