Nan had told me about Bellings, she used to live just off Turkey street and then moved to flats near her sister, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the road but her sister lived in brigadier hill. I used to do a paper round on Great Cambridge road and always hated walking under the subway. Think things are a lot rougher there now (so I have heard). I miss Enfield cause it was where I spent the best part of my childhood and I had all my family around me then. Grandad and his parents were cremated and are at Turkey Street and I still miss going there every Saturday with nan, I have heard that even the cemetery has grown. Oh well I suppose we have taken over enough of Andrews thread :-) But just to keep up on the topic, I am now going to check out all the websites that I can find about the Enfield Poltergeist. Catch up with you later Kim Sue

now your going back sometime, yes it is st, georges field your talking bout and the old brickworks is now an estate, that has been built for some time now, not much else has changed here i dont think except up where bellings use to be, along the cambridge is now a big retail shopping park

Susanne

Susanne Report 11 Apr 2004 22:00

Never knew the name of the field but if that is the one that had the railway line one side of it, yes thats it. nostalgia now!! Used to be a club in the summer in a hall at the other end to us, think the idea was to keep us out of mischief! I can remember the horrors that went on around that field at the time, suicides and the such like. Have they buillt on the old brick works now?

kim Report 11 Apr 2004 21:52

at the time of all this going on with janet, i lived on the estate behind her in brimsdown, now (i have travelled far) im near stoneliegh now, and can place the back alley your talking bout i think you mean the one going across to st,georges playing field

Kim, Where were you then? Had the wind put up me one day, mum and dad were out and I came home via the back alley, noticed the dog was out in the garden with the door open and for some reason I looked up at my bedroom window, saw an old man with longish hair and long beard looking out at me, he was totally white. I did an about turn and 'legged it' to a friends house. I wouldn't go back home till mum and dad got home and then they had to sit in the bedroom with me till I fell asleep. I can still picture that face now! Thanks for the link, I did actually find that earlier and it put the wind up me then!

We lived in Stoneleigh Avenue, an estate off of Carterhatch lane, we lived there from '75 to '79, I went to school at Carterhatch and then Chase Girls as it was called then, before that we lived at Ponders end in some masonettes (sorry spelling is not a strong point). I can remember wanting to go to Ambrose Flemming school but mum and dad nearly died at that thought! Not the best reputation around.
