I am wondering if you people could help me. A good friend of mine is retiring at work and she has taught me the ropes in life and I would love to get her something nice if possible. However one slight problem I do not have a clue what to buy her, has anyone got any ideas that could help me? Thank you |

My parting gift was a barometer with some tender words inscribed. I love it, and refer to it most days. Happy gift-hunting Norah |

Does she have any hobbies (like hunting for dead rellies)? Hobbies are always a good place to start i think as you can be sure you'll buy something the person will use. Pam |

I have bought rose bushes with appropriate names,,,like 'Silver Wedding' or 'Wedding Day',,,,thre might be something that suites retirement,,,maybe even one that might include the ladys christian name in the own name,,,if you see what i mean,,:)) |

Samantha These are really popular as retirement presents.... I work for a map company, and they can site centre a map on a town/village/postcode/or house, (2'x2') ordanance survey 1 to 50,000 scale, can be framed or just laminated, or can have the above with a hundred Year old map of the same site centre along side it to see how much the area has changed over the years (18"x30")..... They also do all of this in jigsaw form as well, and they have just added ariel photography Jigsaw or framed photo. Contact me if you wish to look at the website. |

I think a plant is a good idea, when I retired one of my presents was a suede address book, they passed it round for people to put their addresses in, its still in constant use. June |
