Talking of Turkish toilets. We have friends in Istanbul and they have a toilet which looks quite normal, but for the fact that there is a pipe at the back which sprays your backend after you've been to the toilet. The only reason they use paper is to dry their backend. Clean, yes very. In Greece, and other warm countries you are not supposed to throw loo paper down the toilet. Their plumbing system is not made for it. They have a basket to put dirty paper in. |

Terri, Guess the Turkish ones are a bit like the Algerian ones - just squat types - just places to put your feet - some are flushing but when I was there 30 odd years ago had no water! |

Hi Sylvia You brought back some memories. In our house there was a Bidet and one day my sister-in-law came to visit with her 3 small sons. One went missing and came back soaking wet and crying, he had only wanted a drink of water and thought he could use the fountain as he called it. He got even more upset when we were all rolling on the floor laughing.Needless to say hubby got rid of it before our little one did the same. Jill |

Do you ever use a bidet when one is in your room? Having not grown up with one I admit I don't. So many countries have a bidet in their bathroom, but I do wonder how many use it who are not usually acquainted with one. A friend of ours told us this joke: A man asking the room maid about the bidet "is that to wash the baby in" and had the reply "on the contrary it's to wash the baby out". Think that one out |
