Oh Linda, what a dilema. I think that you know you are doing the right thing for your pet, but I can understand your emotional state. Quality not quantity is what counts. Do let us know how you and Josie go on. My love to you and a tickle round the ears for Josie. Norah xx |

Oh thank you Tina and Terri - I think I knew I was doing the right thing, but on reading your comments it all seems logical and right and I really appreciate your time in reading. I will spoil her rotten which I'm affraid I have always done. Now where is the nearest pet shop. Take care Linda |

I have a dog Josie - a West Highland Terrier, and she is 12 years of age. About 2 months ago she had her usual checkup and was found to have a serious heart condition. I ask the vet if she would go in her sleep and was told that unfortunately she would not and that I would have to make a decision when the time came. For the past month Josie has been having about four pills a day, and I have gradually watched her decline to the point where she will not come out of her basket to play or even to greet me at the door when I come in. You see it's the pills that are doing this not her condition - I feel guilty that I am giving her the pills which are making her feel worse. Because of this I have decided to stop giving her the pills and now she's happy but this gives her less time to be happy rather than giving her the pills that give her more time to feel ill. Am I doing the right thing, I know that I will still have to make that decision to turn out the lights when the time comes so to speak, but I'm getting conflicting emotions. Need support Linda |
