When I was studying chemistry, I was manufacturing oxygen by electrolysis One electrolyte gave off oxygen into a container, the other chlorine into another container and I forgot which was which so sniffed - the wrong one. Len |

A National Service friend of mine, when writing home, wrote "Dear Mum, I'm writing this slowly, cos I know you can't read fast". Believe it!!!! Brian |

I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day. We were discussing contact lenses. He asked me if i wore contact lenses to which i replied yes. He then asked " So what happens when you arent wearing them, How can u tell if people are comming up behind you?" I had to stop myself from laughing and replied " Well i simply use the eyes in the back of my head" To which he said he said "Oh" and walked away. Somehow i dnt think he realised what he's asked me |

When we were sitting down to tea one night years ago, my mum asked my dad what was wrong with the onions. They looked a bit odd and were hard as nails. He said he had no ides except he had a devil of a job trying to slice them, so he left them whole and bunged them in the mince. Mum asked where he had got them and he said from under the kitchen sink. They were daffodil bulbs she had just bought! She never let him forget that! |

When going through a competition phase, I took quite a few wrappers off tins later when I needed to open the odd tin, I didnt have a clue what was in them. The results were quite interesting! Lynda |

My desceased aunt, planted out the dahlias, and cut all the labels off, my nan asked why and she said so the snails can't read what they are. and ex sister in law first house planted trays of seeds, but the labels wore off with watering, so she guessed what they were, ended up with hanging baskets of carrots and borders of caulis cabbages and beetroot and a nice veggie patch of flowers. sandra |
