It seems to be a popular pastime with teenagers to come home late at night and throw themselves into people's hedges or try to kick them to death. I live on a corner plot, so my front garden is surrounded with box hedging - about four and a half feet high. As soon as it is growing nicely, the local yobs come along late at night when the pubs close, or from a party, and knock hell out of my nice, neat hedge by launching each other into it. Apart from taking it down and replanting with rose rugosa or prickly hawthorn, what else can I do? Kathy |

How about a liberable amount of itching powder scattered over the bush? They'll think twice next time! |

I was thinking of running some barbed wire through it, but would I get prosecuted if the little darlings hurt themselves? The itching powder sounds good, where do I get it from? |

I think you might get into trouble with the barbed wire, although that would teach them. You might get the itching powder from a joke shop or try on line. Theres lots of joky things online. |

Ros and Eileen, You are so right - you are not allowed to protect your property from thugs and vandals these days. Will see what the garden centre and joke shop has to offer. Kathy x |
