Snails can "home" like pigeons for four miles so you could always collect them every night and then take them to the nearest woods for the thrushes. But after collecting seventy in twenty minutes, I just squashed them all in a bucket and put them in the bin. We had trouble in the kitchen too, slug pellets last thing at night, sweep it all up first thing in the morning. Or you could make a four o'clock trip to collect them all and take them to the nearest woods, over four miles away....... Good luck I can't stand looking at them now Abigail |

Either they go painlessly over the back fence into the jungle, or hubby lines them up and uses them for golf chipping practice!!! Maz. XX |

to stop them coming in the house draw a chalk line they don't like crossing it, beer in a cup is good, and broken egg shells around the plants they don't like crossing it. i can remember as a kid my dad gave us apenny for each one we found and drowned in a bucket of water, we went in the nieghbours who was overgrown with brambles and got his to. also played tennis with them lobbed them over the street. well i was only 8 wouldn't do it now. sandra |

Hi Margaret, The answer is "Slug and Snail Pellets"; from all garden centres, DIY stores, Wlkinsons, Woolworths, etc. Sprinkle liberally around you tender plants, and those pellets will kill 'em stone dead...NEVER FAILS Brian |

When we walk in to the garden after it has been raining and see all those lovely snails heading for our new plants that we have spent hours putting in what do we do, i am sure you all have different ways of dealing with the little darlings, mine is salt dont like to stand on them. |
