If you mean for your own records on a family history computer chart, then we leave them just with forename. If posting on these boards, I agree 'Unknown' is not helpful so would leave them off those until we found a surname for her. It helps to refer to people by their maiden name, especially if they decide to marry 2 or 3 times. |

I'm probably mad but I put 'became 'and then the surname when they were married. Mainly because I hate to admit I don't know it! A |

Before I forget, I just need to ask. What do you put if you dont know the surname of somebody, especially the maiden name? At the moment I have put 'unkown' but it is not very helpful! I was going to put the married name, but then things got confusing! Help I need to know what to do with the 'unkowns' Any advice would be so helpful Thanks in advance x |
