I have emailed the site for an answer to this one, but wonder if anyone else has a suggestion. My mother's parents were first cousins. I have found a whole new link to one side of their tree--this link explains their blood relationship. My problem is that I cannot see how I can link relatives already on the tree to other relatives already on there, as they are already linked once. As an example, my mother's maternal great grandfather, John Goffin, is also my mother's paternal great grandfather, so links to various people through two different branches of the tree. I have a huge family, so this problem obviously needs to be resolved. I would be grateful for any advice, particularly from anyone who has had similar problems--I can't be alone in this! |

You're not alone. I think this occurs in most peoples trees - mine included. You cannot link them as of yet on GC so I believe you have to input all the information on both sides. Personally I couldn't be bothered. This has been a big bugbear for a long time now and still GC have done nothing about it. Jeanette |

Daphne I think you have to remove all decendants (children and Grandchildren) in order to sort out the relationship. Jane Sorry but I think you have to enter the mother and key in the children under her name. But look on the bright side - it's your tree and you can call her what you like ie. b***h + surname! (Just a suggestion!) lol. Just think of the satisfaction it will give you everytime you look at it!!!!! Jeanette |

Jeanette, just to update you. I got a reply from GC re this 'glitch' in their system. They said they are looking into it at the moment, but meantime the only way round it is to enter people twice--as if my family wasn't big enough already! My 'kissing cousins' have at least 54 direct descendants from their marriage! |
