Did anyone see this film on Sky yesterday? I was really looking forward to it but was quite disappointed and wouldn't have wasted my time..... Did anyone out there understand what happened at the end? I am still confused as to what Sy (Robin) was talking about concerning Jake's dad who had the affair. He said that he abused his child but where did he get that from. What did I miss????...normally we work out the end on own but even after seeing the film my family looked at one another and none of us got it!!! Aileenx

I think Sy meant that he abused the family by not realising what he had in them, he was having a affair and putting the family unit at risk rather than concentrating on his family and Sy saw that as abusing their trust too.It was everything that Sy so so wanted in life and he was angry at the risk the hubby took having a affair and couldnt understand why anyone would do that to such a 'perfect family' Well thats how I read it anyway lol Debbi

I tried to watch it but it gave me the creeps....glad i found out what happened in the end though...lol

Sy was thinking back to his childhood when he was abused as a child by his parent or parents and was made to do things while having his photograph taken. He wanted to be in an ideal family and when he realised the guy wasn't what he thought, he retaliated by humiliating them the way he used to feel........ I think!

I think to like Eileen, I defitnly got the impression that Sy was abused as a child. and I think that the family forgave him and his dreams came true and he ecame jakes uncle. Debbie

I must admit I wasn't too impressed with this film, although hubby and friend rolled in 20 mins from the end drunk after spending the whole day out. I spent the end of the film going "ssshhhhhh" turning the tv volume up to 30! Still didn't quite understand the end though.

Thanks all for commenting. I sort of came to the conclusion that Sy had been abused after mulling it all over during the course of yesterday so at least I eventually got onto a similar track to a few of you :o)...it was great to see Robin Williams playing a straight part for a change but I much preferred him in 'Insomnia' any day! Haven't seen this film yet, but had a similar experience at the weekend with Donnie Darko - hadn't a clue what was going on most of the time, and didn't see what all the fuss was about...
