Like most animals but particularly cats; the 'domestic' type as well as their larger relatives. My ex partner once arranged for me to meet a tiger at a wildlife park. It was about 6 months old and the size of an alsation dog. Absolutely beautiful! Best birthday present ever. I also think Meercats are sooooo cute. Mel |

My favourite four-legged animal is my 14 year old cat. I have long conversations with her, with eye to eye contact, and we shake hands every morning after which she takes a pinch of tropical fish food from my hand, I like people too even though many of them prefer not to think of themselves as mammals. Wolves! They are majestic animals, totally family oriented, know the value of teamwork, mind their own business and keep to their own territory. Have met, face to face, with one twice. He looked me straight in the eye and slowly turned away and went on with his business. I love to listen to them 'talk' to each other when they are hunting. Only two are 'killers' and the rest the 'gatherers' and they only hunt for food. It's a marvellously eerie sound when I stand outside in the moonlight and listen to their mournful calls but you can 'hear' what they say to each other - the sound changes as one directs another and the excitement when they find a prey. One bad time we had was when a 'Mom' was teaching her cubs to hunt and they decided that my goats would be prime meat. Lost three good milkers in one afternoon..but hey!- I live in their territory! |

From all your lovely replies, dogs must be the favourite. I too have a black Lab called Nelly, who, by the way is barmy and she's nearly five. Also a tabbly cat called Slinky because she used to be so slender, but like a lot of older ladies, alas is not what she was, size wise! |

My Favorite animals are silver back Gorilla's and dogs, as the local housing association would object to my having a silver back then I have settled for a dog. Sue |

Joan, I've always loved dogs and miss mine terribly even now. He died 2 years ago. I adore horses as well although I've not ridden for ten years. Viv. |

What is your favourite animal and Why? I just love horses because they appear to be such mystical creatures. I hav'nt ridden one for 40 years and I don't own one either. When I win the Lottery I shall have one then. |
