Hi Claire, Are you staying in St Helier ? If so your choice of shops and places to eat within walking distance is vast. Italian restaurants dominate the choice of of cuisine, but there are other options too just as you'd expect in this country. Can't remember the names of the restaurants or roads, but there are two very good Italian places opposite each other on a side road adjacent to the Hotel de Vere Grand. This is directly opposite the causeway out to Elizabeth Island. Also, if you walk down that side road away from the beach and turn right at the main road, there is an excellent chinese in about a couple of hundred yards on the right. St Aubin is also a good place to eat, but there are also plenty of places dotted around the island in smaller villages. Rick. |

Hi Claire, We went to Jersey in 2001 we had a fantastic time, loads of shops,, plenty of places to eat out which we found very good but we had our main meals at the hotel which was the Merton Hotel, we needed another holiday when we came home there is so much to do and see ----can you put me in your suitcase i would love to go back there Have a lovely time when are you going as there are certain times of the year that are extra busy like August they have the carnival then and all the floats are done up in flowers oh must stop could go on forever about it. Hi Claire, I have been to Jersey twice, once we stayed in a really nice place in St Helier, the second time was the last holiday my husband and three sons had a holiday together, as my sons were getting to that age when they thought they didn't want to come with mum and dad, we went camping that year, had a fantastic time, I can remember the shops were open at night. You don't seem to get a lot of families there with children from what I can remember on holiday, as it is quite expensive to eat out etc..hope you have a lovely time lovely island. |

Hi Claire, I hope the wedding is wonderful. The Underground Hospital is amazing, but quite eerie. I'm sure you will enjoy Jersey, I have friends who live near St. Brelade, nice place. Don't forget to visit Gerald Durrell's zoo as well. Lots of nice shops too!! best wishes, Sue |

Hi Claire, You are going to have a great time ! The De Vere is very posh - cocktails out the front in the evening is a must ! Do try the restaurants I mentioned - well worth a visit, especially the chinese - excellent food. Also try walking out to Elizabeth Island and then get the floating train thing back (can't remember the name of it). Mont Orgueil is a compulsory trip as is the zoo and I would also recommend walking along the coast to St Brelades Bay (if you have the stamina - get a bus back !) Let us know how you get on - I'm rather jealous. Rick. |
